Derek Jeter doubles in ninth inning as Yankees snap nine-game skid at Tropican Fiel
S.T. PETERSBURG — Joe Girardi had planned to give Dave Robertson an inning in Wednesday’s series finale against the Rays regardless of the score, but handing him a one-run lead in the eighth turned out to be the perfect situation for the reliever.
Robertson, who suffered a pair of blown saves and losses over the past week, threw a scoreless eighth inning, handing the ball over to Rafael Soriano to save the 4-3 victory.
“I needed a nice, quick inning,” said Robertson, who walked one and struck out two in the 13-pitch frame. “I thought it was really good. It was really fortunate that the team pulled through right there and scored a bunch of runs. It was a big win for us. I was able to hold it down and get the ball to Sori.”
Although he failed to escape a couple of inherited jams this week, Robertson appears to be getting back into form, striking out 13 while walking three in eight innings since returning from the disabled list on June 15.
“He’s going to get back to where he was,” Joe Girardi said. “I said it might take some time, and that’s as good as I’ve seen him

I know, never say never, but in this case I'll have to make an exception.
What's odd, though, is that my teams are the Padres and the A's, and I hate Commiefornia more than anywhere else in The Union... lol
