Star Wars is arguably one of the most beloved fantasy and sci-fi canons of the last 35 years. It's often a clear rival for Star Trek.
That is where the similarities stop, however, as there is a very clear distinction between the two in terms of media. Here is how they stack up against one another:
Star Wars:
Films - 12
TV series - 5 Teen/Children's Series that have been very short lived thus far with the longest spanning 4 years and counting and 3 of which have overlapped in the last decade with no known re-runs of any of the series except when Clone Wars changed airing stations.
Overall Box office of all current films is third behind the Harry Potter series and James Bond (which has a significant time advantage over both having started in 1962 and is now on it's 23rd film) at $4.9 Billion
Star Trek:
Films - 11
TV Series - 5 Adult and 1 Teen/Children's Series, the compilation of which spans Five Decades almost seamlessly with very few breaks and very loyal re-run activity.
Overall Box Office of all current films is less than half of Star Wars at $2.4 Billion, yet still quite profitable, and higher than many successful franchise's average per film.

If 5 mega popular TV series meant for adults (Trek) can make 11 successful movies, wouldn't it stand to reason that 12 successful movies(Wars) might make for at least one popular adult TV series?
So, My question is: Can Lucas Arts Make a serious TV Series, and Would you Watch it if they did?
