Someone missing at work on Thursday? For many in Arizona and Missouri, that was just one more reason to speculate on who won the record Powerball lottery whose golden tickets were sold in those states.

And while America was waiting to learn who will share in the estimated $587.5-million jackpot, lottery officials prepared to hold news conferences Thursday to highlight the establishments where the winning tickets were sold. Everybody loves a winner, but in the lottery world, the sellers of winning tickets get to share the lucky spotlight.

They know who to rob then. First thing I'd buy is a security system, a body guard, or a room-size safe!

Absolutely not, It might ruin my win completely...
All those beggars and friends for a moment, not to mention those with bad intentions.
For some reason some people have in mind that when you made a quick buck it's wrong or you owe them something...
  • MS239 2012/12/03 14:25:25
It would be tempting to "Tell it", just to see all the "friends", and family come out of the wood work, but no, I wouldn't want it told!
  • foxy 2012/12/03 13:10:40
It could complicate your life, begging letters etc. but I would share if I had enough., with my family.
  • Resp 2012/12/03 09:45:29
    Oh hell no!
  • Nuke 2012/12/03 04:29:42
But I would have no problem telling people to get lost and telling people with sob stories NO and to buzz off, it's my money and I can give it to whom I want, if I give some money to my brother I could easily say no to my sister... Especially since my sister seems to hate me and thinks I'm a bum, no money for you now get lost.

I get enough email spam as it is.

If possible, I would be completely anonymous. I would even continue my job for a time. I would hide the money as completely as possible and only filter some of into play at a time. Eventually those close to me would realize something was up.

I would claim the money and "disappear", along with all of my stuff to somewhere else until the heat died down if i couldn't be anoyomous. If i could though, i would be.

Would rather not have to deal with all the new "old friends" and long lost relatives. My thought is that if they wanted nothing to do with me when I was poor, then I want nothing to do with them once I'm rich
  • LeroyRogers 2012/12/02 20:32:21
only an idiot would announce to the world that they won. people would come out of the woodwork wanting money.

I'd be anonomous. I'd move to another state where nobody knows me.
  • TasselLady 2012/12/02 14:39:40
Absolutely not! Pretty soon you would have other "family" and "friends" coming out of the woodwork you know absolutely NOTHING about asking for money. Nobody would know except for my immediate family and some absolutely trustworthy friends of mine. If someone isn't a friend while I'm poor, then they won't be one if I ever become rich.
  • Gabsters<3 2012/12/02 05:49:03
I'd rather not be murdered or begged for money thank you very much v.v

    aw no hell no gif

I like to keep that information private, though I know why people would to know who won beyond just the "family or friends coming out of the wood works" aspect.
  • MIRANDDAAA :) 2012/12/01 22:58:15
I would only tell the people who are closest to me.
  • Haruko.... MIRANDD... 2012/12/02 05:37:05
    I wouldn't even do that.

Sounds like a great way for me to end up getting robbed or have "chance meetings" with family and former acquaintances I haven't spoken to in years who suddenly want to be my new best friend. sounds robbed chance meetings family acquaintances spoken years suddenly friend

    No way!
Every family loser, community welfare bum and corrupt "charity" would beat a path to my door. I'd change my name and move to another state, and just pretend that I earned it as a mega-successful arms dealer or something.
    Nobody would ever know!

I would not enjoy all the people that would come out of the woodwork asking for money. I rather get the lawyers and accountant first, then make a list and go step by step.
  • BabyBear 2012/12/01 18:18:17
I would also not quit my job until the check clears.

Even then I would not quit my job at all... I have one of the greatest bosses ever!
  • Tordgaard 2012/12/01 17:11:09
Take care of your family, some long-standing friends, a few deserving folks and some charities that you favor - and do so as quietly as possible. Why would you want to open yourself up to the leaches and the dangerous types?

You'd have to be some kind of attention whore to want the world to know.
  • Curmudgeon 2012/12/01 06:03:18
I would make a point of not telling anyone outside my close circle of friends/family who I know I can trust. In doing that, I might even leave the country taking my friends/family with me to a location where nobody has outside communications.

It's a flashing neon sign over your head for every person who suddenly becomes your "best friend", or closest family member who "is broke". Not to mention announcing it to every freak with a t.v.
  • wtxwoman 2012/12/01 05:08:59
    I wouldn't tell anyone for a while.
