President Obama and former campaign rival Mitt Romney will meet for a private lunch Thursday at the White House, fulfilling an offer that Obama made after his reelection victory.

The meeting follows a statement from Obama on election night. "In the weeks ahead, I also look forward to sitting down with Governor Romney to talk about where we can work together to move this country forward," the president said.

You really don't see the TARP money going to his Ivy League buddies' "golden parachutes?" You don't see investment capital being chased out of the country?

Kevin McCarthy has already started to change the investment situation, now if the GOP takes the Senate, we will see some real positive steps to a healthier economy! It would be nice to see some experience in our national leadership!

If it happens, and I doubt it, the rich will get richer, and the poor get poorer, as has been happening ever since the BUSH administration set the gears in motion.

It certainly seems to work 'round here! We Texans appreciate our prosperous entrepreneurs! They bring us better products, services, etc. while the government only promises to take from some to give to others. Who do you trust more, businessmen or politicians?

Don't you think we have a right to be a little proud, seeing we've created most of the the jobs this country has produced in the last 5 years! Face 1,200 people/day aren't moving here for the weather, are they? It's called personal freedom due to (a very) limited government that only meets for 3-4 months every other year! No brag, just fact. That means our congressmen must have "real jobs" in the private sector. My state representative sells insurance! I see him most mornings at the Y, working out - except for a few months every other year. That's why our legislature works!

OTOH, you still haven't answer my question, who do you trust more businessmen or politicians?

Thanks for the irrelevant geography comment, but my question was pertaining to the contradiction in the graphs. If MI created 88,1000 jobs, why aren't they with TX on the "job gains" chart? Just wonderin'

I said it then and I'll say it now but I think it's a little late for Obama to act on anything he finds out. The only reason he made that offer s so that he can pick Romney's brain about what kind of plan he had for getting more people employed and maybe even see if can find some to blame on Romney since the "It was Bush's fault" is wearing thin. Maybe he wants to find out what to do about Obamacare! If Romney tells him anything except lies, he's a fool too!

Partially, but I believe Governors play a bigger role. Obama has done very well with the economy, but when he has to deal with the party of no, he can only do so much. It takes congress and the senate to actually get things on Obama's desk for approval.

This economy is in shambles, and it is Obama's policies that have done it. What has BHO done right for this economy? For 2 years he owned Congress, and just look where he took us! Fortunately the GOP took the House in 2010 and kept it in 2012! What would you like Congress to do? Wasn't approving ObamaCare and approving 2 "jobs" bills damaging enough?

Fortunately we live in Texas, where conservatives maintain a limited government!

Obama did alot of good thngs in the first 2 years, and since the tea party got in there, nothing has been accomplished, and now we are seeing that the tea party candidates are losing primary elections. It serves them right. Dont talk about Texas being so great. We may have jobs, but they are low paying. There are more people on food stamps because of it, and Perry doesnt care that people dont have health insurance. Texas is a pathetic state. We have more street people because Carter and Cornyn are not taking care of the vets who need help. It is fine to put them on the front lines but once they get home, they are homeless.

What good thing did Obama do his first 2 years. The "jobs bill?" ObamaCare?

The GOP took the House in 2010, and stopped the madness. Thanks guys!
