I'm really sorry but I just don't like his music, he's one of the few musicians I just can't try and listen to. And I'm not planning to have children, so the possibility of them ever listening to him is zero.

I have seen his live performance (Voodoo Fest 2003). Despicable nonsense. Let me tell you that "Shock Value" is an obvious, typical and pathetic way to gain money and fame. But the idiots and immature minds of society will eat it up every single time. There's really nothing special about this guy. In his song 'The Beautiful People' he says "Capitalism has made it this way. Old fashioned Fascism will take it away". I got news for you, Chump. You would be NOWHERE NEAR where you are without CAPITALISM. You need a bunch of dumb little white kids spending their parents' money on your overly produced albums and crappy merch.

My kids are getting older and I'm starting to expose them to more musical styles. Marilyn Manson seems too harsh for me.

Let's make this a couple years older and your kid is about 14-15 years old... they want to listen to Marilyn Manson and dress like Marilyn Manson. Do you let them and accept them or not?

Not sure about 14-15, but at some point yes. I figure part of being a teenager is learning to express yourself and explore your interests. I think it's better to encourage that journey than try to repress it.

That said, I don't know enough about Marilyn Manson - all I really know if the few hits he had. If it is really dark or there is something very questionable in his music, I'd probably try to nudge my (now older) child away from it. However, i don't think I'd forbid it.

I like Marilyn Manson and I don't see a reason not to let them. Apparently people who have never heard his music think he sings about stabbing puppies and eating babies or something. I don't know what's up with all the hype.
