If you don't know who Andrew Wood is, it's ok. A lot of people don't know who he is. Andrew Wood was the lead singer of the band, Mother Love Bone. Do you know of Pearl Jam? Stone Gossard (rhythm guitarist) and Jeff Ament (bassist) were in Mother Love Bone with Andy. Chris Cornell of Soundgarden was his roommate in Seattle. Check out Stardog Champion, Holy Roller, Crown of Thorns and Man of Golden Words.

You two cannot sit there and honestly believe that Nirvana would've still been the front face of the Seattle Grunge movement if Mother Love Bone were there to receive the spotlight they deserved much more so than Kurt. I say Nirvana would've gotten recognition, but with Mother Love Bone together and strong, there's no way in hell that Nirvana would've been AS BIG as they were. Mother Love Bone were on there way becoming the poster band for Seattle before Kurt even met Krist.reply - Devil's... ComaAlp... 2012/07/09 21:46:37
Their appeal was different. Mother Love Bone were more of an evolution of what the 80s had produced, but with more integrity and a more diverse range of influences. Nirvana appealed more to the punk guitar anti-hero ethos. So I think Nirvana wouldve still been Nirvana had Andre Wood lived, just that Mother Love Bone wouldve been huge alongside them, representing different ends of the Seattle spectrum (which is a very, very wide on indeed)reply -
Yeah, but Nirvana wouldn't have had the same amount of success that they had. Nevermind would not have gone platinum.reply -
I'm sorry, but as I was but a baby and had NO IDEA what was going on, the media from Cali to the Carolinas were BUZZING about this up and coming band that were in the studio recording their first full length album. EVERYONE from the Washington and Oregon areas 100% believed that Mother Love Bone was going to be the band that brings Seattle to Los Angeles, New York, even London and Hong-Kong. The safest bet at the time was that Andy Wood was going to be the poster child for what would eventually be called 'grunge'. That DJ who made that documentary was right. Andy's death is the reason why the 90s were the way they were. Had Andy not died, I'm sure that Kurt would still be alive and STILL opening for Iggy Pop and The Stooges to this day.reply - Sister Jean 2012/07/09 21:04:47Yesyesreply
