Olivier Dahan, the French director responsible for 2007's Oscar-winning "La Vie en Rose," is planning a film about Grace Kelly called "Grace of Monaco" and, not surprisingly, Variety is claiming "nearly every top actress in Hollywood" wants a shot at the role. But, at the moment, Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman is the biggest name associated with the project.

According to Yahoo!, "Grace of Monaco" is not a biopic but a historical piece centered around a 1961 crisis in Monaco. The small principality apparently experienced mounting tensions with France over the principality's status as a tax haven, and Kelly, an Oscar-winner herself and Her Serene Highness The Princess of Monaco by marriage, was called on to help. Does that sound like a role Nicole Kidman could pull off?

Nicole Kidman is a beautiful actress with plenty of talent. Even though she is an Aussie, she is been able to speak with a southern accent very well in Cold Mountain.

No way!!! Grace Kelly was the quintessential American female Movie Star during the 1950's. No hate towards Kidman, but she's an Aussie and a little bit too old. May I suggest Jessica Chastain, the young American actress who was nominated for an Oscar this year for "The Help"?? She's beautiful, a fantastic actress & AMERICAN! Come on people, think outside the box........

Yes. Nicole would be spot on as the icy Grace Kelly. In fact, she would surely win an Oscar nomination. But who would play Prince Rainier, Cary Grant, Alfred Hitchcock, Bing Crosby, Ray Milland, Oleg Cassini, William Holden, and some of Grace's other lovers?

She is a fine actress and even looks a bit like Grace Kelly. However, Nicole Kidman has a wickly hard edge that is part of her nature and always comes through in her performance. Grace Kelly has a certain softness about her. For that reason, I do not believe Kidman could pull it off.

I think she'd be fine, but I have to say that the very first actress that came to mind when I saw this was Charlize Theron.

Both are terrific actresses, but I think that Charlize Theron is much better at playing a role so that she actually 'becomes' the person she is playing, as she looks more like Grace Kelly as well, so she would be my pick ahead of Nicole Kidman.

She did not grow up in Philadelphia as the daughter on a construction company owner and builder. Grace did. Her movie was shown in a new theater in a new format. The Swan was shown in the Boyd Theater, This was owned by William, "Hop Along Cassidy" Boyd.
Then she married a real prince.

Nicole does have the Grace Kelly look, but the movie seems to take place when Grace Kelly was much younger. I would think that Scarlett Johansson deserves an audiion and she would be just around the age of Grace in the movie.

Grace Kelly is classic beauty which I think is comparable to Nicole's. What they do is do a nationwide search for this look to portray Princess Grace in the movie. Wrong choice I think...

Nicole Kidman is a stunning woman who is majorly talented, and she definitely has the class and poise necessary to pull off Grace Kelly.
