We've reported on some weird casting decisions, but this one might take the cake. According to Indiewire, Matthew McConaughey has been cast as John F. Kennedy in "The Butler," a movie about Eugene Allen, who served as the White House butler under eight different presidents. Sex symbol Minka Kelly will be at McConaughey's side as Jackie Kennedy, an equally odd selection.

And there's more. The entire cast is made up of A-list celebrities in unexpected roles: Alan Rickman will trade his Snape cap for Ronald Reagan's shoes, Jane Fonda will play Nancy Reagan, and John Cusack will assume the role of Richard Nixon. Forest Whitaker will star as the butler, and Oprah Winfrey, Cuba Gooding Jr., and Lenny Kravitz will also appear in the film. It's being shot by "Precious" director Lee Daniels. But, uh... How about that "Matthew McConaughey as John F. Kennedy" thing?

Sure. His mug is enough like that of JFK that the make-up artists can make them look exactly alike. Never heard him speak, though. I'd like to hear him say, "I believe that this nation should commit itself..."

Matthew McConaughey is a great actor and he does resemble John F. a little. Sould be a interesting movie if the tell it right, or wrong if they try to cover it up,

i don't think he can pull it off. i have seen him act and do a variety of characters, but I don't think this one is in him...I would love to find out I am wrong though.

He probably would, but something about that guy, I just do not like him.
The movie the Lincoln Lawyer, actually a really good movie, he was the star, the main focus, and yet the movie could have gone on without him.
He literally just does nothing for me.

I think he has the acting chops to do it, if the accent wouldn't be needed to be believable. For him to pull off the accent, if he even can, it would have to take away from his acting. Pretty much anyone I have seen effectively portray JFK in the past is far too old now. Honestly, I think all of this casting is not right.

But I think the worst decision is John Cusack as Tricky Dicky!

I think John Cusack is totally watchable in everything he's done (which, I think, is how a straight guy says he loves watching another guy!) but Nixon? Nooooooooooo!

I don't see it. I don't think he looks anything like JFK. But Greg Kinnear made a suitable JFK when they made the TV miniseries The Kennedys.

Well there wasn't but 2 choices so I picked yes. But I'm just wondering...did JFK ever run around the Whitehouse naked smoking weed and playing bongo's? If so then of course Matthew would be an excellent choice.
