I wish that they would charge him the money it will cost for the stay ( only fair ). If someone is that rich and they did something against the law they should have to pay instead of the taxpayers.

Since it's involuntary, and I'm sure the fine that went with it more than paid room and board ...

Rich people who break the law should have to pay for their incarceration.

It really does seem "bass-ackwards" for us to pay for someone to be comfortably incarcerated when the criminal is charged with the payment of his or her parole officers. The money would be better spent on education and incentive programs that keep our at risk youth out of prison.

Jail cannot accept "rent". I'll bet anything he is buying canteen food, not eating jailhouse slop! We ARE paying to jail him, but we pay that for everyone who is sent to Prison. You think the Mob guys don't have money??? It just doesn't "show".

He is in jail. If you don't want to pay his rent put him in house arrest. He also had to pay fines which are more than the rent on where he will be staying. Domestic spousal abuse was his crime. Idiotic but boxers do stupid things and so do golfers.

They should still charge him for 3 months of room and board.

Uncommon opinion or not, I would have to say that taxpayers are not paying his rent. I am pretty sure Floyd Mayweather owns his own home. But on the off chance he did have to pay rent on his usual home, it would be extremely high. His punishment was not set by him....there is a judicial system set in place to do such things. YES of course he more than likely had highly payed attorneys jockeying to get him the best possible conditions. Be honest (if only with yourself). iF YOU HAD THE MONEY, WOULD YOU NOT DO THE SAME THING? Yes, the judicial system does need an overhaul and it is NOT fair, but it is what it is. The title was meant to lead people and is not a true representation of the information presented in the article referenced.

What the heck is wrong with you J? You make it seem like the guy is getting assistance.. I can't see why he is in jail probably beating like hitting his wife seems athletes love to beat women. Nobody wants to be in jail so leave him in there and say true complete comments in the future

The justice systems of the US and UK are in need of a complete overhaul. Prison should not be for punishment, it should be for reform, protection and deterrence. A person should only go to prison if they are unrepentant for committing a crime or are a danger to society. Prisons should be a complete hell hole - dirty, cramped, bread and water, hard labour. Sentences should be indeterminate, they should be released when the officers think they can be trusted to leave, and the purpose of prison should to be terrify the perpetrators into never committing an offence again, lest they go back. Punishment should be through things that help society, like community service, hard labour, fines and public disgrace.

So then why are we complaining about poor people on welfare when the amount of money they receive from taxpayers is infinitesimal compared to this guy?

Well I certainly agree with some of the page's comments from regular citizens77
Jail can be a joke these days.

Everyone is looking out for crooks and jailbirds, but little lookout at all for vets and returned soldiers - esp those who paid some physical price for serving their country
Just so typical of just how topsy-turvy the world and its values are right now!! :(

Hard labor would be a good thing, I think, for jailbirds

This would only be fair if they also charged people in lower tax brackets for their incarcerations. I understand that it is upsetting that we have to pay to take care of someone who earns more money in one night that I personally will probably ever see in a hundred lifetimes, but if this nation becomes one that starts setting laws based on the income of the offender, then I for one, would consider giving up my citizenship. That would be punishing people for being successful.
