This is the first movie I recall seeing in a theatre. When the witch flew over Oz spelling out 'Surrender Dorothy' I thought about getting under the seat...

Way ahead of it's time. Made in 1939. Something special for the poor masses to
watch during the very hard economic times. And yes I've watched it to death.
My Father and I would watch it when it was on only once a year. It was cool.
    A great memory.

I WATCHED IT AS A CHILD! WHEN I HAD KIDS, MY TWO GIRLS AND I WATCHED IT. NOW MY OLDEST HAS KIDS AND THE TRADITION CONTINUES. MY YOUNGEST CONTINUES TO WATCH, ALSO. WHEN IT COMES ON I'LL GET A CALL FROM ONE OR BOTH LETTING ME KNOW. I TRY TO TAKE AT LEAST ONE TRIP DOWN THE YELLOW BRICK ROAD EACH YEAR.

And it also spawned the gay rights movement in 1969 -- The idea of the rainbow flag came from this movie. The gays fought back during the Stonewall Riots in New York the day Judy Garland died she is a gay icon and hero to the gay community -never has one movie been so identifiable with gays and the beginning of the gay rights movement .

Perhaps for the 75th anniversary they should include bonus material telling how this Classic movie spawned the gay movement as well .

Will it be avaiable HD or 3D? Most people don't realize this but the Wizard of Oz is the most Gay Iconic movie and thus started the Gay Rights movement in America in 1969 !!

This is the very essence of the best "GAY ICON " movie out there !! That's where the rainbow flag initiated from . The Stonewall riots took place in NY the day Judy Garland died --This started the gay movement in America --Hooray for the Wizard of Oz

The Wizard of Who?!? Never heard of it.

Of course it is a Classic. That's why it gets played on the classic movie channel.

I just watched the other day and something dawned on me, which is why didn't Dorothy try to punch Glenda the Good Witch at the end of the movie when she tells Dorothy that she has had the power to return to Kansas on her feet all along. If I was Dorothy I wound be pissed because how to use the ruby slippers would have been good information to know before hiking all over Oz, being told to kill the nasty green chick, and then bring down the regime of the wizard. Glenda was a bitch.

Arguably the best movie of all time.

It is ageless, it is fun, it's got good music, the special effects aren't dated, and there is actually a message (a simple one, but still).

AND it was made in the 1930's.

Who in their right mind would say it isn't a classic? It's a beautifully crafted film, based on a well-written, much loved, novel, starring Judy Garland looking absolutely adorable?

Please, this film has been a classic since it was first released, and time has only made it better.
