Will You Watch the NBA Playoffs?

The NBA Playoffs have begun with some intriguing first round matchups featuring championship favorites and new faces. Notable Eastern Conference Quarterfinals matchups include the heavily-favored defending champion Miami Heat (1) taking on the underdog Milwaukee Bucks (8). That series would have been considered the least interesting of all if Bucks guard Brandon Jennings didn't boldly predict his team would win in six games.

The New York Knicks (2), who won their first division title since 1994, take on the Boston Celtics (7), in what should be an emotionally charged series for reasons on and off the basketball court. Trash talk always makes for a good series and one that's also very physical. Expect that from two young Western Conference teams: the Los Angeles Clippers (4) and Memphis Grizzlies (5). These two teams don't like each other at all and are looking to finally rise to that next level of championship contention.

Of course, there's old favorites such as the San Antonio Spurs (2) who face the unlikely playoff team Los Angeles Lakers (7) that gained momentum to close the season, despite a potentially career-threatening injury suffered by Kobe Bryant. Last season's Western Conference champs the Oklahoma City Thunder (1) begin theie first step towards a return to the NBA Finals by trying to eliminate the Houston Rockers (8)--lead by former teammate James Harden.

So SodaHeads: Will you watch the NBA Playoffs?

Professional basketball is to basketball what professional wrestling is to wrestling.

Basketball might be the most scorned professional sport, but it will forever be my favorite. All these people saying they like March Madness but not the NBA... you just don't like basketball. The NBA playoffs are where you will see the best basketball in the world, hands down. March Madness doesn't even come close in terms of quality of play.

LeBron James and his friends are the reason college basketball is 1,000% better than the professionals.

But why? Lebron James is an amazing player. I hate the Heat, but they bring high quality play to the league.

LeBron and his friends are NOT as good with their combined skill, as Michael Jordan at 50. He has probably forgotten more about the game, then those clowns will ever learn.

i'll be honest, i was never able to see why people think sports are so damn exciting. might as well be sitting around flipping coins and making a tournament out of it, same thing happens every time except one side or the other wins.......for what? a shiny statue after all that work. i apologize but it just seems so pointless to me, if you like it then raves to you, go have fun

Without the Spurs, my mother-in-law would have no purpose in life. They live on a ranch and have been retired for a decade.

I've never had any interest in watching seven-foot tall narcissistic giants in their underwear dunking basketballs just barely above their heads. Then when you add in the repugnant behavior of these grossly overpaid, egotistical reprobates, and it definitely turns me off of ever wasting time watching. Given the choice between watching basketball and changing the cat's litter box, I'll go do the litterbox, at least I'd be doing something productive.

NO, I have started losing any interest at all... A lot of people are feeling the same way... The players are making too much money and many are not a good influence on our children any longer...

Why would you watch a sports game?
To reminisce about what you were never able to do?
(How much satisfaction can you get from putting a ball through a hoop?)
To root for the 'home team' of which none of the players are from your 'home town'?
Maybe to admire the players. If so, you're not a sports fan, you're a personality fan.
I could see the attraction if it was a high school or college game . . . then you have more of a personal involvement . . . but at a professional level, what involvement do you have?

We've lost interest in professional sports slowly over the years with strikes, absurd salaries, very unsavory behavior and narcissism exhibited by many of the players.
