Will you read the new and upcoming Harry Potter?

Danny June 14, 2007 17:50:59

It's official! Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the seventh and final book in J.K. Rowling's magical Harry Potter series, will be released on July 21, 2007. In the February 1 announcement from the book's publisher, Lisa Holton, President of Scholastic Children's Books, said, "We are thrilled to announce the publication date of the seventh installment in this remarkable series. We join J.K. Rowling's millions of readers--young and old, veterans and newcomers--in anticipating what lies ahead." Save the date, and let the countdown begin!

Yes, yes. I have read every Harry Potter (multiple times, even). Will you read the newest one?

I read straight threw 1-4. Then I had to wait too long for the next few to come out. If I have to wait too long, I lose interest. I might catch the flick (but Harry is going to be like 20 in the show).

When my son and daughter were in 1st and 2nd grade I needed some new reading material for our nightly read. Seuss is good but you can only take so much of it. I used the Potter series to read to them every night. After a year or two we knocked out 5 books, one chapter a night. I was hooked from there. Great stuff. I have enjoyed the movies but the detail of the books is great.

I'm not into Potter. The closest I got to a book like that was a book by Steven King and Peter Straub called "The Talisman" Great book too! I highly suggest it.

It's interesting just to see how many different authors have influenced Rowling, and what clever things she brings to it. But if you're dead-set against not reading it, try Terry Pratchett's Discworld series. It's like Harry Potter for adults. :)
