The walk to the team bus was short but still left eons for Steve Nash to ponder the imponderable. Will the Lakers miss the playoffs?

"I think about it every day," he said in a quiet moment after their latest loss, Wednesday in San Antonio. "We've got to make some serious ground up here quickly. We're in deep, and we've got to find a way to scratch and claw and get to 48 wins."

He chose 48 because it was tossed his way by a reporter. It's the average number of victories claimed by the eighth and final team in the Western Conference playoffs the last five years. It's actually 47.7 and based on a .582 winning percentage to account for playing only 66 games last season because of the lockout. So the Lakers (15-20) must go 33-14 the rest of the way to get to 48. Good luck.

The Lakers just need time to develop there are three NBA superstars who are use to having the ball in there hands. When Kobe Bryant has more then 10 assist they are undeafted doesn't mean he stops shooting the ball. Dwight Howard needs to figure out his role and practice shooting free throws.

They will struggle again,and it is so sad watch em like this,esspecialy because of Kobe and Nash,they r on the 'end of the road' and Championchip is on all costs now.This is not basketball, if you srtugglin'all the time,and this is not the Lakers team that I used to watch since I was teen and played basketball for local team with 15 years old.(Man that was awesome time),s o what they thought(managment) bring 4-5 all-star players, and that's it, over, we are champions,even we dont need to play...and I cant believe how big mistake by Mitch K.That guy realy can put champion team together,and even when I was saw first 6 players,I was like: 'Who's the bitch now' and one day I decided to see who's on bench,who's gone etc...Man when I saw that rooster on bench,then was like: "They dont have much chance...Man Lakers bench looks like in that moment as a bench in the city park right on the children's playground or in the kindergarden...And that is what I cant believe,how such a man as Mitch,could make mistake like that.(That is the prove that even the bigest makes mistakes)...And since then to me was all clear...6 players no matter who they r cant play every 2nd night most of the game and even fresh made team they know each other personaly but that is not matter

You should know how your teammates breathes in the field,what they thinking in the moment, what he's capable, how fast, agile,what his eyes tellin you when he only look at you etc.and thats real telephaty 100% between teammates, and for that needs time...and on the other side when I was saw bench for example Of Clippers,man I was already decided not to watch every game as always,and since session start,I didnt watched even single game(I like my nerves),only one game Brookly Nets and because just to see how our player from national team M.Teletovic will start,and nothing more...Miami will be Champion again,that 'animal' LeBron he is from other planet,now in full shape...and thats it,basketbal is not for only 6 awesome players...u need above averege quality bench to step in,and Mitch was supposed to get only 2 top (All Star)players and focuse on bench rooster,but...now u have kindergarden on bench looks like as junior team on bench...Black Mumba and WE(Fans) want to get back Big Master(Phill Jackson) that is the best coach and expert for basketball in history,period.

The Lakers aren't looking too chipper at this time. I ain't holding my breath,
much less betting the ranch, for anything significant comming of the Lakers

Nothing about their play indicates they are anywhere near getting it together. Beating less than 500 teams is not impressive. they have to beat Denver, Houston, San Antonio and OK City to impress the league and get back in this.

This time Jerry missed the Buss. The Lakers will NOT make the playoffs if their injury problems continue. Having key players out or banged up does not make it. Even though they have the strongest team on paper, they will only be paper tigers unless their key players can finally show up healthy.

i really wish they would make the playoffs but who knows how long howard and gasol are out and hill is gone for the rest of the season. just dont see it happening. not enough talent on the floor to win games. they all need to learn to get along too so they can win. just thinkin the players are too old to compete with the teams like okc, lac, miami, indiana, and so on. the spurs are old too but timmy d dominates all day everday and parker is still playing great ball with ginobili still pitching in and some good younger talent to dish into that too.

The Lakers need to rebuild the team and start by getting rid of Kobe Bryant. I think a lot of times he is the reason Phil Jackson and Shaquille O'Neil got away from there.
