I absolutely loved this movie! It is a very fine film. One of the best things about this film is that Affleck had the intelligence and the courage to challenge the system! He did not gloss over the politics and put himself out there and made himself vunerable to attacks from conservative politicians/War Hawks!! he told the truth that this mess in Iran happened because of American imperialism and greed. Yes, folks, we caused this whole situation because of our interenference and supporting and propping up the Shah who brutalized his own people while the people in Washington, who pulled the strings stood by and warched him brutalize his own people for the sake of power and great wealth!
The downside of this is that conservatives and many people who are ignorant of history, will go after him and will try to deny him the Oscars that he and this film deserve.
It has it all: great plot/story, action, suspense, intrigue and a excellent cast and acting.
This movie will be a favorite for a long time on DVD , Netflicks, Cable etc. Bravo!!!

There weren't too many surprises at Sunday night's Golden Globes: Tina Fey and Amy Poehler were hilarious, Daniel Day Lewis won an award and Adele's acceptance speech for "Best Original Song" was charmingly excitable.
However, there was one big surprise: Ben Affleck's film "Argo" took home the "Best Motion Picture" award in the Drama category. Affleck himself also won the award for Best Director -- beating off such heavyweights as Steven Spielberg, and recent winner Kathryn Bigelow.

With the Academy Awards looming on the horizon, the Golden Globes are often seen as a good way to predict which films will be taking home Oscar statuettes. "Argo" is up for Best Picture, and although Affleck hasn't been nominated as a director, it still seems likely that this Globes success could lead to further awards. Do you think that "Argo" may win an Academy Award based on its Golden Globes win?

.
For note, Affleck for the most part knows what he's doing.. but I think other directors were more deserving. It was the politics that decided this one.
Sorry, for me, that ship has already sailed.
It's already gone and sunk as far as I care.
It's holly wood politics, no more, and dressed up to appear 'nice' to appeal to the mass idiots who think they can do no harm.
Back in 1979 when Iran overthrew the Shah and stormed the US Embassy, 52 workers were held hostage for 444 days. However 6 staffers escaped and hid out with a Canadian diplomat until the CIA could sneak them out. The plan was to convince the Iranians that the escapees were part of a film crew scouting locations for a science fiction movie called "Argo." This involved setting up a phony production company in Hollywood and actually running auditions for parts in the "Argo" movie.
Great movie.
As far as Ben Affleck goes....I don't like him anymore because he is sticking his nose into politics. I put him right up there with Sean Penn. He is successful but uneducated. Please, sir, stick with movies and make believe and keep out of the important stuff.
