Baltimore Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs is in a lot of trouble -- in more ways than one. The 2011 NFL defensive player of the year tore his Achilles tendon when working out last week, although many reports have stated he was actually playing basketball. If that's the case, there may be a clause in his contract that could see him lose money for participating and getting injured in non-football physical activities.
A torn Achilles tendon is one of the worst injuries anyone can suffer, let alone an athlete. It can take up to a year to heal and even then a person may never walk or be the same after it, depending on the severity. Suggs claims it was only a partial tear and that he won't be out for the 2012 season like originally reported, but we're not so sure his Ravens teammate and staff are as optimistic.
Even if Suggs somehow finds himself medically cleared to be back on the football field this season, one can imagine it's not going to be so easy for him to get back in the swing of things. There's also the scary possibility that he may never be as good as he once was. It's still too early to tell, of course. The bottom line is that, for now, the Baltimore Ravens won't have Terrell Suggs for at least half the season -- and that could seriously affect their chances of winning their first Super Bowl championship in over decade.

As for the basketball part, some players could hurt or throw their backs out playing golf like Phil or Jack did.
I hope, for pure shelfish reasons that he sits out the season.
