Will Peyton Manning Play in 2012?

By the time you probably read this, the Indianapolis Colts will have released the greatest player in franchise history and a man that will surely be a first ballot Hall of Famer: quarterback Peyton Manning. After 14 years as a Colt, for the first time in his professional football career, Manning will have to find a new home -- and he'll surely have plenty of teams approaching him for his services.

Manning was owed a $28 million bonus this month, but with uncertainty about his neck injury that put him out of action all last season and the Colts being the owners of the No. 1 NFL Draft pick, it didn't make financial sense to the franchise to keep him on the roster. Without Manning in 2011, the Colts just went 2-14, although it can be argued the head coach, general manager, and poor defense were really to blame for the team's lack of success.

Colts owner Jim Irsay has since fired head coach Jim Caldwell, vice chairman Bill Polian, among others. You can bet the Colts will be looking for a fresh start in 2012, but it may be a while before the team remotely has the amount of success seen with Manning under center. As for Manning himself, he'll have to prove to teams that he's healthy enough to still play -- and play at a high level. Manning has been durable all his career, but can he bounce back from this near-career ending medical medical setback?

He will play for another team. I think he will look for a team with a good offensive line and he will make that team a great offensive team

Like everything in life you have a beginning then you have a ending. Peyton Manning is no different and I can not imagine how he feels or what going thru his mind. I think it sucks that the Colts owner didn't let him finish out his career at Indy, it will hurt Indy Manning being gone..

come-on dude an ending, what sport do you think he's playing in .............in football when you retire you cry saying goodbye not when your Cut for being hurt ,he's just an elite sissy that did not get what he wanted ....booHooo ...If he's a real man he would man up and sign with a team that would play the colts twice to show them he's still got it!!!!!

Peyton is a definite Hall of Famer but from what I hear he's still not physically fit to play the game. I guess if he can pass a physical some team will take a chance but I think he is smart enough not to risk permanent injury.

Time to look for a new job, Peyton. With fused veterbrae in your neck, I would say your damaged goods! Why risk it...

I hate that he couldn't finish his career as a Colt, but they really didn't have any other choice than to let him go. My guess is that he'll end up a Dolphin or a Jet.

yes he should play. if I was Peyton I'd go to Jacksonville so I could make good on my promise to the Colts in the beginning of my career and kick their butts.

    but thats just me.
