Will Peyton Manning End TebowMania?

TebowMania may have come to an abrupt end on Monday, March 19, 2012, when legendary former Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning chose the Denver Broncos as his next football team. At least, that's what sports blogger Eric McErlain confidently states on The Daily Caller.

Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow certainly had a magical run, with the ability (or lack of ability) to not play well for three quarters and step up in the fourth when it matter most. Tebow led the Broncos to an AFC West division title and the playoffs -- for the first time since 2005. However, while TebowMania was able to overcome the Pittsburgh Steelers, Tebow's unconventional throwing motion and inconsistent play help the New England Patriots destroy the Broncos in the divisional round.

Many criticized top Broncos football executive and two-time Super Bowl quarterback John Elway last season for not fully committing to Tebow, but no one can question his latest move now. The bottom line is Manning is going to play for the Broncos and is an all-time great. Tebow had one magical run. Manning's had a magical career.

In fact, according to The Daily Caller, "all indications are that the kid who was on top of the world just a few months ago is up on the trading block, and probably available for no more than a handful of lower-round draft picks. That’s one heck of a tumble to take." It sure is. Do you think Peyton Manning single-handedly killed TebowMania?

I like Tebow, but talent-wise he's just not in the same class as Peyton. Of course you could say that for just about anybody.

They needed him to sale tickets and get ratings...and I know fans would travel to see him! He is very popular in Florida, as I am sure Denver saw with it's ratings with there games played in the state last year! Go Tebow!

Tim Tebow is a solid guy he will do just fine with the Jets. He has class, and is still learning, I expect him to become a great quarterback.

People love Tebow because of the kind of man he strives to be not the color of the uniform he wears!

And i hate him for the uniform he wears. If he wants to preach, go preach. If he wants to play football, shut up and play football.

He's not preaching only giving praise to God for everything good & bad alike. He is freely practicing his religion, not something he should have to separate or compartmentalize in his life just because someone might not agree or approve! This is part of what makes America great. Freedom to worship as we see fit or not to worship at all if that's what you want to do.

I could care less what he does and whether he is or is not a good person. I do not have to like him because he is preaching about his god. I do not like him because of his uniform colors. This is football. I hate the Broncos and the Jets as well.

If he wants to preach and pretend to be holier than thou so be it.

I would not want him on any team I root for simply because many think he is a good guy. Bottom line is he is a a below average quarterback and that is all that counts in the NFL.

Tebow had a brilliant first year. With a little time and development, he may become one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. His unique behavior will keep fans interested in him in the mean time, and in the future, (after he has had some time to further develop his skills) I believe that his talent will keep the fans interested in him.

I only say that because Peyton is a legendary quarter back and Tebow, if I got this correct, started for the Broncos last year and that's it. So what I'm saying is, if Tebow doesn't go to another team, then he is going to end up being the back-up quarter back for the Broncos. Which equals the end of TebowMania.

No, he didn't. Most of us Broncos fans wanted Tebow to stay. He's a rookie, a one-season player, a youngster. And he's a great football player. He could fit in the team in a number of positions. Yes, Peyton Manning is the perfect quarterback. But Tebow is a member of the team and deserves better.

I can't believe they did this.

Sadly yes. Tebow is awesome, but there is no way he can compete with this future hall of famer and to make it worse, Tebow was traded to the Jets, where he will compete with another talented QB, in Mark Sanchez.

Wherever Tebow goes, he will have his fans. His style just doesn't fit pro football. He will hang in for a while on his natural talent and his desire but eventually he will fade away.

Tebow is talented and a Christian, and most people hate him for it. I think Manning is too old and broken to do anything but collect disability for the next 5 years from the Broncos. GO TIM TEBOW!

As a VERY bitter Miami fan, Tebow is not a franchise QB.He has flashes of greatness and he can be exciting to watch but that's it. Manning will throw 5 td's a game given the chance.

And now Tebow is with the Jets. I furkin hate the Jets.

Not a chance. Tebow's a genuine nice guy, and people respond to that. While we welcome Peyton to Denver, any city that gets Tim will find itself just as enthusiastic as Denver did.

Tebow isn't even a good QB. On top of his self-righteousness and judgement, someone needs to knock him down a peg. It's a little egotistical to think God is there to help you win a game.

Tebow never said that God helped him win a game, and he has never been self-righteous or judgmental. What he did say was that any credit for his talents should go to God, not him. He took the praise and mockery with typical good humor, and he gave back a lot more than most pros. Every time he lost a game, he stood tall and accepted full responibility, something you don't often see these days. While he's not a finished product, he has the potential to be great, given some coaching and experience. I'm afraid I don't understand your nasty comments about a genuinely nice young man who gives his team 110% every day. There must be some reason his teammates, the guys who know him the best, think the world of him, and his only detractors are the folks who only see him on TV.
  • Charles... HeeNalu 2012/03/21 16:49:00

I think you may misunderstand Tebow's recognition and honoring of God. God isn't there for the purpose of winning the game for Tebow or anyone else. The bible tells us that God does not take sides. God is God. Period. Everything in creation points to the greatness of God. Tebow has a relationship with God and communicates with Him. Do we give God credit and thank Him for everything good in our lives? We definitely should. In fact, the bible tells us to thank him for everything...even the stuff that does not seem good to us. I think that is what Tebow is doing when he kneels before God during a game.

Tebow is an excellent QB and you are slamming him ONLY because he is a strong Christian, just like all the other haters, you can't think for yourself. Broncos will place last in their division this year and you, along with Obama, will blame it on Bush. LMAO!
