Don't look now, but the Oklahoma City Thunder are 4-0 to start the 2011-12 basketball season. They may be one of the youngest teams in the NBA, but don't tell that to All-Stars Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook. The Thunder have made the playoffs the last two seasons and look well on their way to doing so again in 2012.
There were reports that Westbrook and Durant have a strained relationship, but head coach Scott Brooks downplayed the situation. "To me, an altercation -- in my world, it's a fight or it's a shove or something like that. A debate or a discussion is totally different than an altercation but that did not happen," Brooks said to ESPN.com. "I've been coaching these guys [Durant and Westbrook] for four years and we haven't had one fight, which surprises me, and we haven't had any issues that were below the belt that I had to step in."
At 4-0, with two high-level, young, and very competitive players, arguments can happen. Tensions can get high. The NBA season is a grind, but the Thunder are undefeated, are coming off of a big win over the defending champion Dallas, and look like they'll only get better, especially with key contributors such as James Harden, Kendrick Perkins, and Serge Ibaka.
Can the Thunder win a championship this season? That's up in the air with favorites like Miami, Los Angeles, and Chicago still playing great basketball. But would it really be surprising if they at least got to the NBA Finals? Let us know!
