New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez didn't play well the second half of the 2011 NFL season. Actually, most of the Jets didn't play good football, period. The team went from two straight AFC Championship games to now watching the playoffs from home, wondering what next season will bring. NFL analyst and former Jets quarterback Boomer Esiason told a Boston radio station via ESPN.com, that the team needs to have better leadership if they want to win again and make the playoffs.

Esiason said that the Jets are talented, but that head coach Rex Ryan, as well as management, deserves blame for putting a lot of "bad guys in the locker room," like wide receiver Santonio Holmes -- who was benched in the final game of the season due to his poor attitude. He was later ripped by his teammates in local newspapers for his selfishness. But Esiason didn't stop there, mentioning that the Jets should and probably are looking at other options at quarterback if Sanchez doesn't play well next season.

"If Peyton [Manning] is able to play and the new general manager (in Indianapolis) and whoever they hire to run that team out there decides to go without Peyton Manning, then I'm sure that the Jets will be sniffing around," said Esiason. "Because that's what the Jets do. They're trying to find their Tom Brady. They're trying to find their Aaron Rodgers. And I don't think, in their mind, they think that they feel like they've found the kid [in Sanchez]."

they should get rid of that loud mouth Ryan...Jeff Fisher would have been a great fit for that club(he took the St Louis job tho'); but Ryan is a distraction that is wearing thin....a "Real " Professional coach like a Belichek is what is needed in NY

i dont think they'll get rid of Sanchez just yet he could be better if he had a good coaching staff. Both the Ryans this year on the Jets and Cowboys sucked ass and will continue to Jets have a good defense but thats not enough for them to get to the playoffs or beyond. Ryan needs to step up his game or gtfo

They'll start him again without Schottenheimer as offensive coach.Having until 2013 on his contract,I think the Jets have no choice but to keep Sanchez another season .He'd be tough to trade.The Jets need to look for a QB in the off season. They have to know by now, that barring a miracle Mark Sanchez won't ever be good enough to win a title.

The Jets suck, Rex Ryan sucks out loud! But Sanchez is still the franchise QB, and Ryan will stick with him till he proves he's not worth saving. But who would want a guy nicknamed "Dirty Sanchez" ?

Before you fire someone, you have to have a credible candidate who's better than the person you're firing. There's no credible candidate better than Sanchez who is available - even if the Colts dump Peyton Manning.

I think they roll with him for at least one more season but so far he has been mediocre at best....at best. I must say I am enjoying the the daily implosion of the Jets that's been happening. I'm curious to see what they do with Holmes since he just signed that huge contract. Man the Jets are going to lose some dollars.
