You might have heard rumors about a Miley Cyrus/Bret Michaels project in the works last fall, but those rumors evaporated when the press started whispering about a possible affair between Michaels and Cyrus' mom, Tish.

They denied the affair from the get-go, but Cyrus and Michaels decided to wait out the media storm before they released the song.

Michaels told E! Online, "The record label was supposed have to this huge humongous release of 'Every Rose.' It was going to be Miley's next-step song, but because of that, they stepped back."

He added that the song would probably be out this summer, and that he expects it to be "the song that will cross her over" from Disney starlet to serious singer.

The chances of her ever being seen as a serious singer is slim. Since her fanbase mainly consists of kids and tweens/teens, her career is likely over when they outgrow her.
