Will Manny Pacquiao Lose Fans Due to Gay Marriage Comments?

Boxing great Manny Pacquiao is back in the headlines -- and no, it's not for his never-ending feud with top-ranked boxer Floyd “Money” Mayweather (although most of us still want to see that fight.) This week, Manny Pacquiao -- politician, not boxer -- has made headlines for his opposing views on the hot-button issue of gay marriage.

Pacquiao was asked about gay marriage by The National Conservative Examiner and the boxer, who is extremely religious and currently serves as a congressman in The Philippines, said he is clearly against it. He cited the Bible and said that marriage should be between a man and a woman. Also, in an interview with MMAFighting.com in 2010, Pacquiao's promoter Bob Arum insulted the sport of mixed martial arts, making the controversial comments “they [the MMA fighters] roll around the floor like homosexuals.” Pacquiao may have already started to alienate a part of his fan base then.

The point of mass marketing an athlete is to have them appeal to all races, all cultures, all religions, etc. With Pacquiao's comments, he brings publicity he probably doesn't want -- or need -- at this time, especially with a big fight on the horizon. Just because fans may not be too familiar with Bradley, it certainly doesn't mean he can't win. Anything can happen in the boxing ring and while Manny Pacquiao the boxer will likely show up on June 9, there's no guarantee those fans that he alienated will.

I'm pissed about this whole situation. Everyone else shouts loud and stands up for the lifestyles and choices they choose, but every time a Christian stands up for our values we are ostracized. We already know that that comes with the territory but I feel that if corporations, people, and stores are going band Christians for our views Christian needs to Boycott their merchandise and businesses. I know I am and will continue to.

But if that happens that means that those fans were not real fans, by the way what matters is his performance as a athlete but still there will be someone that will bitch about that.

I don't give a flying turd about his position on marriage, I personally wold rather not know, cause I'm a fan of his boxing, not his point of view.

I wasn't aware that the gay community follows professional boxing. If you need your living room redecorated that's another story. It will be FAABULOUS!

That's typical of how stupid people are. Yes there are gays who are fans of boxing and there are gay boxers. In Japan one of the #1 boxers is straight but a cross dresser. My interior decorator is straight married and has two kids. Pull your head out!!!

Nope and I will consider buying Nike shoes next time around. If they keep him as their spokeman (and keep making decent shoes of course).

He said something which most people in his culture would agree with and certainly the vast majority of the people on Earth agree with. And apparently a majority of Americans too.
He might even gain fans overall.

Well it shouldn't. All he owes the paying public is to deliver a good performance in the rig, period. In a perfect world, outside of his performance in the ring, his opinions anything shouldn't mean anything.

Why should he? The left is always taking about people being tolerant, but that's only if they agree with them on every thing.
He is standing with his God and those convictions, even when he knows it will bring criticism.
He didn't say anything hateful, but those on the other side will willingly show their hate filled hearts on this one.
Good for him, I'll be cheering for him.

Correct, we're not tolerant towards people who view themselves righteous enough to deny citizens civil rights.

It's not my opinion that state after state is introducing and passing legislation meant to deny citizens the right of choosing who they start their family with...

    That is real.

It's also real that the Christian church used to provide same sex marriage rituals. It's also real that every Christian who would legislate against the "homosexual lifestyle", but eats shellfish, and wouldn't kill their child for wanting to go to a different church are hypocrites, because all three subjects are covered in the same book.

Just because you disagree with reality, doesn't make it any less real.

Forcing your beliefs on someone else is certainly not friendly.

Why isn't it enough, that if you are against people of the same sex getting together, you just don't do it.
When you try to stop others to conform to your beliefs, that is when if gets hateful of you, disrepectful, ugly.

    Leviticus 20:9
For anyone who curses his father or his mother shall surely be put to death; he has cursed his father or his mother; his blood is upon him.

    leviticus 11:10
But anything in the seas or the rivers that has not fins and scales, of the swarming creatures in the waters and of the living creatures that are in the waters, is detestable to you.

    Leviticus 18:22
You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination.

Tell me, why are you guys not introducing legislation banning all red lobsters, and advocating the death penalty for rebellious teenagers?

I would hate for you to look hypocritical.

Of course we do, it is what seperates us, the most, from Conservatives. Conservatives want to make everyone conform to their way, thinking they know what is right for everyone. Liberals understand the importance of, The Constitution and allowing for the individual to choose for themself what is right.
Even if it is to be a Conservative. lol

Liberals understand the constitution!!!!!! That's will be the funniest thing I've will hear all day.
The constitution was written for a republic nation, You DiMs want to change it to a socialist nation where we take care of everyone that doesn't want to work. Then allow illegals to enter our country ILLEGALLY and treat them to our hard earned money.
You liberals know nothing of the constitution,

I do not support people who support discrimination.
I will easily change my mind if someone does not support equal rights.
