On Wednesday, the sports world received some shocking news. One of NFL's greatest players, former linebacker Junior Seau, was found dead in his home -- with gunshot wounds on his chest. TMZ first reported the story and simulcasted the emotional press conference immediately following his death, which captured his mother break down in a moment viewers won't forget anytime soon.
As of right now, the death is being investigated as a suicide. Seau was a 10-time All-Pro, 12-time Pro Bowler, and is most famous for playing for the San Diego Chargers. He also played for the Miami Dolphins and the New England Patriots. He is expected to be a first ball Pro Football Hall of Famer when he is eligible in a few years. While some may say there were warning signs of Seau's self-destruction, he claimed he fell asleep at the wheel when his car was driven off a cliff back in 2010 and that he was not attempting suicide.
His family has come out and said that they don't blame the NFL for his death and that he showed no signs of depression. ESPN's Adam Schefter also tweeted that Seau never was listed on NFL injury reports for having concussions. That's not to say brain damage shouldn't be ruled out, but until more details come out, Junior Seau's family and friends will continue to mourn the fallen legend and pray for closure.

The powers that be have been making a lot of rules to promote player safety. They've been issuing stiff penalties to dirty player. But that's all they can do. There's no way to make football safe. At least the new rules discourage children from playing dirty dirty football, which cause some of these injuries.
