Already the recipient of two Emmys himself, Fallon knows a thing or two about award ceremonies. During a press tour, he said of this year's Emmys, "I don't want to make anyone uncomfortable. I want to make people laugh. I just want to keep the show moving and be entertaining."
Fallon's desire to keep things decent is admirable, but he might want to keep in mind Russell Brand's controversial stint hosting the 2008 MTV Music Video Awards. Despite political faux pas galore and questionable jabs at Britney Spears and the Jonas Brothers, it upped the ratings by 20 percent and got him back the next year.
But Fallon has another trick up his sleeve: Twitter.
The 62nd Emmys will allow viewers to tweet jokes to the crew, which will have a chance at being used on-air.
Fallon explained in an NBC press release, "You can tweet something from your living room and five minutes later it’ll be on TV. We’ve done this on our show before and it’s a lot of fun." All you have to do is add #imontheemmys to the tweet, and it will automatically qualify.
There will be a lot going on this year at the Emmys, with "True Blood," "The Pacific," "Modern Family" and "Glee" all up for a ton of nominations. Let's hope Fallon can keep it together.
