Will Jake Gyllenhaal Be Any Good at Off-Broadway?

Jake Gyllenhaal has been in a couple of well-received movies, namely "Donnie Darko" and "Brokeback Mountain," but he's been largely inconsequential for the last six years. Maybe that's why he's decided to take a break from the big screen and hit the stage in an Off-Broadway production of Nick Payne's award-winning "If There Is I Haven't Found It Yet."
The play is about an overweight girl bullied by peers and ignored by her parents. Gyllenhaal will play the "dozy but charismatic" uncle who sympathizes with her for a time, until he becomes distracted by his own issues. Roundabout Theatre Company head Todd Haimes said, "Gyllenhaal loves this play and I couldn’t be happier that he has chosen to make his American stage debut with us." (His actual stage debut was on London's West End in 2002.) The New York Daily News reports the play will run from August 24 to November 25. Do you think Jake Gyllenhaal can pull it off?

If I hear about a new actor, and find out they come from the Shakespearean theater, I fairly confident that they'll be very good. This gentleman has a good chance, if he has no illusions about what he's getting into.reply
