Look out Lindsay Lohan, there’s a new Liz in town. It was announced this week that British actress Helena Bonham Carter will take on the role of Elizabeth Taylor. BBC4 is doing a movie about the actress and her two-time husband Richard Burton called “Burton and Taylor.”

Jimmy McNulty from “The Wire” will play the other half of the couple. LiLo tore up the small screen (and not necessarily in a good way) last year in “Liz & Dick” for Lifetime in what was supposed to be her comeback vehicle. But sadly for Lindsay, it was more like a train wreck.

Chances are good that HBC will do a slightly better job playing the iconic movie star. “Burton and Taylor” will focus on a one-time period in Liz and Dick’s tumultuous relationship, 1983, when they appeared together in the Noel Coward’s “Private Lives.”

The “Harry Potter” actress told the Daily Mail, “It’s about capturing the essence of them at a particular time. She was and continues to be a fascinating woman and she was a huge star.” What do you think? Will Helena Bonham Carter outshine LiLo as Elizabeth Taylor?

Those two cannot even be compared.The first is a professional actress with a talent that gives her the ability to play almost any role.The second has basically thrown her potential success in front of a moving train and watched idly(while using drugs and drinking herself out of mind) how it got run over.

Helena Bonham Carter is an excellent actress! Yes, she's quirky, but at least she's confident enough to be herself. Lindsay Lohan is a washed up child star. Helena Bonham Carter kick her ass at acting any day.

She's a good actress although she does seem to play an uncommon amount of really weird and awful women. But my gosh, what are they thinking having her play one of the most classically beautiful woman in the world? Lindsay Lohan looked demented and just was so wrong for the role, but Helena just no way looks enough like ET.

I will not be able to watch and make myself believe she is Elizabeth. At all. I'll have to check out this dude who's playing Richard Burton. I hope it's a better match.

Physical resemblance, in the days of technology and special effects ,isn't everything. Lohan didn't really look that much like Liz either....and her acting....wasn't. I'll be looking forward to seeing this.

HBC is a far superior actress than Lilo. (And I'm not just saying that because of my Potterhead bias lol) Lilo just can't act that well. I didn't even like her acting in the Parent Trap, but you had to let it go because she was like 11.
I don't think she's a terrible actress though.

I've always admired Bonham Carter even in Sweeney Todd which was rather hard to take for me at least. The two are not even in the same class. It's like comparing some second string jr varsity player to an Olympic athlete.

Well said! HBC outclasses Lohan in veery way. Plus, she has focused on her acting career, rather than stealing from shops.
