Will 'Dumb and Dumber 2' Be as Good as the Original?

It's been 18 years since the release of the Farrelly brothers' debut film, "Dumb and Dumber." Along with "Ace Ventura: Pet Detective" and "The Mask," released the same year, "Dumb and Dumber" thrust Jim Carrey into the forefront of the film industry. Rumors about a possible sequel have been hovering since October, but last we heard it was still being written. This weekend, the Farrelly brothers confirmed it's underway.

The directorial duo told ComingSoon, "We're getting set to shoot 'Dumb and Dumber 2' in September. We've got Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels back ... We did not do 'Dumb and Dumberer.' That was a studio thing. So we've always wanted to do a sequel and finally Jim called up. Jeff always wanted to do it. We always wanted to do it. Jim was busy, but he called and said, 'We've got to do this thing again.' He had just watched 'Dumb and Dumber' and he said, 'This is the perfect sequel. Let's do it.'" But will it live up to the hype? That's for you to say.

    First of all the first one wasn't so good. The only way this one might could be better is if it stars Ofraud and Biden. It would be ironic that for the first time in their lives they wouldn't have to act.

    The first one was just a classic! It would be hard to beat, but I would think this sequel will be pretty darn good with Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels back. I wanted a sequel to this movie for years!

    The Hangover 2 wasn't as good as the original, but I still laughed pretty hard at that movie; I will probably like D & D 2, but my gut tells me it won't be as good as the original. It's hard to imagine a much older Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels being as comedicly goofy this time around.

    I like Jim. Reminds me of a younger Jerry Lewis. So I would be cautious to say that I would enjoy D & D 2. But to match the first. Probally not. But I would watch it on Direct TV

    Lets be positive. It will be for a good laugh anyway. Back to reality OK. What is really dumb is humans wanting to kill just because another human killed. Wanting to jail someone when the one jailing would not want to be jailed. What I see are humans over the top being like trusting little children with the one in the middle not able to handle it.

    But only because it can't be as original, obviously. The Farrelly brothers have proven their ability, they have the original cast, and the movie is being done bc all parties are excited to do it, not bc a studio put pressure to capitalize on the original as quickly as possible i.e. Hangover 2 or the terrible Dumberer. All the comments about the first D and D not being funny are stupid. Get the stick out of your ass.

    Hell yes it will, it for sure as hell make up for Dumber and Dumberer..any comedy film with Jim Carey is always awesome..we need more Jim Carey comedys. Enough with the lame Jim Carey movies like "The Number 23" "The Majestic" and "I Love You Phillip Morris" More sequels of his hit movies would be great. Dumb and Dumber 2 would be a great start and hopefully they make another Pet Detective movie

    This is actually great news, at first I thought movies were going to sh!t with all the lame movies that have tortured us the last past decade

    Just knowing that Arnold Schwarzenegger is making more movies and now I find out that Jim Carey wants to take it back to the old school and bring out the sequels, maybe the world will not come to an end afterall..lol

    Because I personally can't Stand jim carrey now. He's always doin that thing with his face...and his voice. Or maybe I just grew up an found him deplorable after. Either way, no.

    Dumb and Dumber is a Jim Carrey CLASSIC! It won't ever touch the hilarity of the original! I can quote that freakin movie. I can't believe it's been 18 years (it's almost as old as me!) and yet the comedy is still on point! And the pre-squeal sucked! Dumb and Dumber GIF It s okay I m a limo driver GIF

    without jim carry and that other guy...it's just another B comedy dumb and dumber 2
    but wouldn't the next movie be Dumb and Dumber 3 since it's the third movie? im probally wrong but it's just a thought.

    If they stick to the formula that made the first one work they should do just fine. If they try to go over the top (eg Hangover 2), it my fall flat.
