NFL wide receiver Chad Ochocinco has been released by the New England Patriots, following a disappointing 2011 season. The six-time Pro Bowler landed in New England after he was traded by the Cincinnati Bengals -- a franchise he spent nearly a decade with. But his production in recent years has fallen, even if his star continues to rise and stay steady.
Ochocinco only started three of the 15 games he played last season, racking up a measly 276 total yards and one touchdown. That pales in comparison to the seasons of his prime, when he led the league in receiving. He did, however, play in the first Super Bowl of his career earlier this year, catching a pass for 21 yards in a loss to the New York Giants. While Ochocinco fans may feel their player got a raw deal, he was quick to thank the organization for their time during his short tenure there.
Now at age 34, the question isn't just how much fuel Ochocinco's got in the tank, but how much he really wants to play football these days. Depending on how financially comfortable he is, Ochocinco could have a very good media and entertainment career if he retired tomorrow. From his trademark touchdown celebrations to his Ochocinco News Network app to his wild stint on Dancing With the Stars, Ochocinco has always delivered as an entertainer. It's also worked against him in the eyes of coaches, but then again, how many 34-year-old receivers who regress and get cut make news these days? Best of luck, Chad Ochocinco.

shansera 2012/06/08 19:01:34Yes+3He won't retire til forced out. How most NFL star players go. If the Pats had won the Super Bowl this year, I would say NO, he would retire on a high note. But he will probably be passed around to a couple teams before he throws in the towel.

I still think he's full of himself, the name says it all ,and he said a couple years ago that if he didn't play up to his game ,he would go back to the oriinal name he was born with, he didn't play well, but didn't chande his name. Oh well, that's the aging star for you.reply
