Like it or not, a musical based on "Bridget Jones's Diary" seems to be well on its way.
British singer-songwriter Lily Allen has reportedly penned the lyrics to 12 new songs for the proposed musical, which is supposed to go into rehearsals as early as next week.
Sir Elton John told Music Week, "That’s an incredibly exciting thing for her, an amazing step for an artist to write a full musical, especially one so young, but I think Lily is Britain’s best lyricist and she’s taken this mantle on which is not easy when you're young."
(In case you're wondering what Elton John has to do with anything, he's now managing Lily Allen on his newest business venture, Rocket Music Entertainment Group.)
As young as she is, news of her involvement in the "Bridget Jones" musical comes almost two years after she announced that she wouldn't be making records anymore. Perhaps this will be a more profitable venture for the 26-year-old.
"Bridget Jones's Diary: The Musical" is currently slated for a 2012 release.
