Beyoncé may have lip-synced at President Obama's inauguration, but will she dare lip-sync at the 2013 Super Bowl? “It’s very difficult to sing and dance at the same time,” Mike Stevens, vocal chair at The Colburn School in Los Angeles, told ABC News. “So I would not be surprised if she lip-syncs.”

Lip-syncing may embarrass an artist, but a poor performance can do more damage. ABC reported that The Black Eyed Peas sang live during their Super Bowl halftime performance two years ago, and critics and fans both bashed the band for a bad showing. On the other hand, Madonna lip-synced during the 2012 Super Bowl, and only got a smattering of criticism.

Did she or didn’t she? There’s still no response from Beyonce on whether she was lip-synching her rendition of the “Star-Spangled Banner” during President Barack Obama’s second inauguration on Monday. As the superstar prepares for her Super Bowl halftime performance Feb. 3 in New Orleans, the pressure isn’t letting up. All eyes will be on her, paying minute attention to her performance. So will she or won’t she lip-sync at the game? That’s the big question.

Beyonce rarely, if ever lip syncs at her shows and concerts. Because of the conditions of the situation. Lets not forget, the Inauguration was NOT a Beyonce or Parkwood Entertainment produced event.
To even mention the Black Eyed Peas and Madonna, really? We all know when it comes to live vocals Beyonce is way above those two acts and in a league of her own. Madonna may have hits spanning an impressive career, but shes known for being provocative, not for her live vocal skills.

As long as she is lip-synching her own voice, I have no problem with it. It's not like Curly Howard lip-synching Christine McIntyire (sp?) singing the "Voices Of Spring" like I saw in a Three Stooges ep. one time. Curly was TRYING to be deceptive, Beyonce ISN'T.

I uderstand lip synching when you're performing, but she was standing around there! There are millions of other people who could have actually sang the national anthem in her place, but they don't have the star power that she for some reaason has.

She was not standing around looking stupid....her lips were moving. Besides, she posted photos the day before of herself in the recording studio recording it so it wasn't a huge surprise to me. She would not have sounded that way outside while singing. We will just have to see how she does at the Super Bowl. I personally don't care....as long as I haven't paid for a concert ticket and she lip syncs....

If you watched it like I did, you can clearly hear her singing. There was a recording, but it was secondary. This was not Milli vanilli so what is the big deal.

I prefer live, if I'm there in person, close enough to hear without speakers and amplifiers. Otherwise, it sounds the same whether live or pre-recorded.

The "damn anthem?" That's our National Anthem... have a little respect. And she won't be singing it anyway, she is doing the half time show! Alicia Keys will be singing the National Anthem and hopefully she will actually sing it, and do so in the proper, respectable manner.... not as she has described by doing it "my style and my way."

I am having respect. I know that's our national anthem, but the Super Bowl isn't an opera. If anything, it's way overhyped. It's just a damn football game.

Most performers pre-record whenever possible. Why not? A foul note or lost timing with the accompaniment can spell disaster for all concerned. And, some who shouldn't be asked can actually listen to their miseries and improve on them which is a great benefit to the audience.
