"Amnesia: The Dark Descent" is largely regarded as the scariest video game ever made. Even fans of the "Silent Hill" series were stunned when the experimental horror game was released in 2010. Compilation videos of people reacting to the game went viral. Now Frictional Games, the original developers, are turning the project over to a studio called thechineseroom, creators of ghost adventure game "Dear Esther," to create "Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs."
Dan Pinchbeck, creative director at thechineseroom, told Gamasutra, "We want this game to be absolutely skin-crawlingly, heart-shatteringly, and nerve-jarringly terrifying -- that's the target. Everything is geared around that. Just turning people to complete ice and making them have complete meltdowns ... If we don't frighten people as much as the original, then we've failed. But now we have to frighten people that know what to expect." It's slated for Fall 2012.

All silliness aside, I hope this one retains the same kind of story as DD and Justine - I want there to be confusion as to the characters origins, and a rich and genuinely frightening backstory which will make me spend hours reading TVTropes in search of meaning. That's my favorite kind of game, or TV show, or movie, or book, or whatever. I am genuinely looking forward to this game.
Anyone who has played this one knows how unbeatable it is in the field of terror.
Resident Evil is considered to be under the horror-survival game just because it's got zombies, monsters etc., but I've never found it scary until my brother started playing RE4. RE5 wasn't scary, but more adrenaline-pumping and, at some times, fustrating.
Sure, Resident Evil 6 isn't going to be the SCARIEST horror-genre game, but I'm sure it'll be one of the most ENTERTAINING ("fun as hell guarantee") of this year.
Sorry if I confused you! \X)
OH! The Fatal Frame games are the scariest games ever, by far.

It looks pretty cool though.. if I played video games I'd probably play this one. xD
