Producers tried to put down rumors that
Adele would be singing the theme for "Skyfall," the next
James Bond film, when they first started circulating in November, but new information has come to light. In an interview with France's NRJ radio on Monday, the Grammy-winning singer simultaneously announced that should would be releasing her next singe toward the end of this year ("Skyfall" comes out October 26), but that her next album is still a couple of years away.
She said, "There'll be a new song probably coming out at the end of the year, and then it just depends how quickly I write some other songs ... [The next album] won't be for a good two years. I have to write it ... If I didn't write my own songs, I'd be out next week with a new album. I have to take time and live a little bit ... I don't think I'll feel the pressure for the next album to be as big as the last one because I know that's not really possible."
It doesn't seem like much to go by, but in November she let it slip that she would be recording a "theme" this year, so that narrows it down a bit. "Skyfall producers responded, "We’ve been considering several people but we haven’t got anyone to announce at this stage." However, since the rumor began there's been a good deal of public support pushing for Adele to sing the "Skyfall" theme, and she hasn't done much to dissuade it.
They should hire Shirley Bassey.
