Will a "Redneck" Version of "Jersey Shore" Be a Hit?

Doron Ofir Casting scored MTV an unexpected success with MTV's guilty pleasure, "Jersey Shore," but Guidos are so last year. So how does DOC propose to top it? What about "Party Down South," a new reality show featuring "12 lucky guys and gals who are keepin' it country and want to party their asses off"?

Well, that's exactly what they're doing.

The casting company will take an RV through much of the south-eastern United States to find "the hottest, funniest and proudest Southerners" starting June 24th, and is accepting video auditions through partydownsouth.com. "The party down South will rise again," says executive director Doron Ofir. "Screw sippin' champagne, let's make it a six-pack summer!"

Is DOC on to something, or is this just a condescending appeal to the public's obsession with stereotyping? There's a good chance "Party Down South" could spark a strange fascination like "Jersey Shore," but DOC also runs the risk of overdoing it, like The Real World.
