Why not be optimistic on AJ Burnett?

NYYankees 2010/03/12 04:12:28
Joba or Hughes? Thames or Gardner? Will A-Rod stay healthy and have leave off where he was in the postseason? These have been the most frequently asked questions this spring, but I'm actually anxious too see how AJ Burnett will react in his second season in pinstripes. I have always put him in consideration of the Cy Young award because of his electric stuff but his wildness and inconsistancy made him fall short of expectations. However he's talked about adding a changeup to his repitoire and said he wants to become more of a pitcher rather than rely solely on fastballs and curveballs like he did for most of his career. I feel if he gets over his wildness he has the potential to strikeout 300 batters. I'm excited to see how he reacts to his 2nd year in the Big Apple. wildness potential strikeout 300 batters excited reacts 2nd year apple

I would like to see AJ put together a consistent season. He does have the potential to be among the top pitchers. Maybe now that Arod has a championship,he'll be hungry enough for another. I am undecided on Hughes or Joba for #5 starter.

i think both joba and hughes have potential to be frontline starters I felt getting Javy Vazquez wasn't necessary. If i had to chose though it would be Joba because he is free of limitations whereas Hughes would be on an innings limit similar to Joba's last year. Joba looked pretty good his last grapefruit outing, they said he topped out at 96 with his fastball and was more aggressive I think he can rebound and show what all the hype was about.
