Well all these ignorant people that say rap isn't music ignore the roots of it. Rap is the evolution of talk singing. Johnny Cash had talk singing songs. So if they say rap isn't music than they are discrediting some of Johnny Cash's finest songs. Plus it's largely a generational thing. Those over 40 probely don't like rap much because it wasn't a music style that was mainstream when they were a child. Those over 25 often if they like rap only like old school rap because that what they grew up on. Then there are those who ignore/don't understand the amount of talent it takes to rap well. Then there are a lot of people who hate rap because they've only heard mainstream rap. There is good rap music out there but most haven't heard it or they simply refuse to even give it a shot. I love rap music though admittedly not as much as I used to.
I have no idea why you earthlings hate rap music so much. I like to blast it on my iPod some days. But only certain rappers. Like Snoop Dogg, or Eminem or Nicki Minaj. Yeah...
It's a generational thing first and foremost and guilt by association I suppose right or wrong it has a thug connection whether it is or it isn't many cultivated that image and it stuck. Screaming poetry or rhyme above a monotonous bass line and drum machine does not equate to music in the traditional sense to a good many people. Those who like it shouldn't feel the need for mass validation just enjoy if that's what you like.
Obviously not everyone hates rap or it never would've survived as a genre. I myself listen to some rap, but gangsta rap, in my humble opinion, is absolute trash.
Any music played over and over can get annoying after a while.
but good fun rap!
I thought everybody liked at least anything - even rap.
It just has a bad *rap*. Oh hahahaha pun intended. Lol.
