Why do you think Andy Griffith was buried 5 1/2 hours after dying? How could such a feat be accomplished in such a short period of time?

It just seems out of the ordinary don't you think? I'm sure many people he considered friends and loved ones would have liked to pay their last respects but were unable due to the hasty burial. Plus, how is it possible to take care of so many things that would need to be done in order to bury someone in such a short time span? Starting with the doctor pronouncing him dead to placing the last scoop of earth on his grave and all that would need to be done in between. It just seems like the funeral home would have needed more time than what was given. I understand about the media circus and being original but I'm stumped on the details. I enjoyed many hours of laughter because of "The Andy Griffith Show" and may he R.I.P.

He was an old school man..I am sure he did not want his family tied up in some media nightmare as those vultures just do not care who they hound and for how long. I am sure things were prepared days in advance and I have no doubt he wanted it that way. He most likely had already told his friends goodbye...RIP Andy..reply - notokand 2012/07/04 15:04:47
+1Probably to avoid a circus. He was someone pretty amazing and if I were hs family and saw it coming, I would have wanted it small and select also.reply - jimih67 2012/07/04 14:56:13
+1The grave must have already been dug and the coffin was probably ready to go. That's pretty gruesome.reply - TasselLady 2012/07/04 14:09:00
+2Well by all accounts he wasn't Jewish. They don't believe in embalming so they often have to bury someone within 24 hours. But he was a Christian, so maybe he just didn't want the hoopla that came from a big funeral. Some people have things like this already in place. My parents are the same way. Everything is paid for and directions are written down right to the letter. That's all I can think of.reply - Kat 2012/07/04 14:02:31
+1My guess is, his death was expected by his family for quite awhile, and everything was already in place. They probably didn't want to have to deal with the media feeding frenzy that would have been involved in a more public funeral.reply - HarleyCharley 2012/07/04 13:46:54
