    Hmmmm...

of the ones listed here, I would say Segovia is the "best" on THIS list.

my favorite, on THIS list is George Harrison.

But the ones I think are truly the BEST don't appear on the list, (save for Segovia)

And neither do my "favorites", who are for the most part consistent with the best.

    Steve Vai

    Leo Kottke

    Steve Howe

    Trevor Rabin

    Jimmy Page

    Frank and/or Dweezil Zappa

    Robert Fripp

    Adrian Belew

    Steve Morse

    Steve Howe

    John Williams

    Los Indios Tabajaras

    Carlos Santana

    John McGlauglin (sp?)

    Jimi Hendrix

    Stevie Ray Vaughn

    Jeff Beck
    Brian May
    David Gilmour

Jimi Hendrix (who was Jimmy James when I heard him playing with the Isley Brothers) had incredible ability even way back then.

Also have heard Carlos Santana in concert (second row), and he was also unforgettable.

This will be tremendously unpopular, but here it goes...Angus Young. Yes, the three chord genius. Nowhere near the most technically proficient, but I know everyone reading this starts to bob their heads when "Back in Black" plays. rifftastic.

I got a movie"Hail Hail Rock n Roll" that says different with Keith Richards putting a show together in St Louis for Chuck with John Lennon's Son and Eric Clapton, I saw him like someone who could be called "attached to making money" A real skinflint. It is possibily the era he was from?? Little Richard and Bo Diddley seemed to have the same attitude.

Don't know about that but Keith said that Chuck decked him awhile ago but he didn't go down. They also had an outtake of Bruce Springtein who said he was the opening act once for Chuck and stayed to be the back up band. He seemed pretty proud of that. Cool flick called Hail Hail Rock N Roll if you check it out.

Because he was on the list, I had to give a vote to George Harrison.. definitely in my top 5. :) Dwayne Allman was pretty dang good and Hendrix had his moments. I'll give you credit since you made the list and had the courage to list yourself with some great names. :) Clapton is also one of my favorites and I really enjoy Brian Mays sound from Queen too. But I got to give props all time to BB KIng and Les Paul. Dominating players and pioneers in the field.

You got it bro. When I hear his play on weeps, I weep along with it! He knows how to put the soul in the strings. A very rare talent. And hey.. a great question and conversation piece! Sure beats all the political debates.. well, I wish they were debates at any rate!
