The new “Spider-Man” movie is being spun, with a director and an opening date nailed down. The director is Marc Webb, who helmed last summer's indie hit, "(500) Days of Summer." The premiere date is July 3, 2012. But the question most people want answered remains a mystery: who’s going to take over the tights from Tobey?
Since Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst will not be returning to this installment of the film franchise, which is an origin story, the hunt is on for a new leading man. According to The Hollywood Reporter, director Marc Webb has started to narrow down the casting list.
And the final five are…(drum roll please)….
1. Jamie Bell, who first made a splash in “Billy Elliot,” his film debut from 2000. He is also scheduled to star in “The Adventures of Tintin” for director Steven Spielberg.
2. Alden Ehrenreich was discovered in a bat mitzvah video, of all things, by Steven Spielberg, of all people. Ehrenreich has already starred in Francis Ford Coppola’s “Tetro” and has a role in Sofia Coppola’s upcoming “Somewhere.”
3. Frank Dillane played the young Tom Riddle in the last Harry Potter film. And that’s it. Well, he would certainly fulfill the “Unknown To Play Spidey!” headline.
4. Andrew Garfield appeared in Terry Giliam’s “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus” and in the British “Red Riding” trilogy. He’s the oldest actor of the bunch, at 27. Too old to play young Spidey?
5. Josh Hutcherson is on the other end of the age scale, the youngest of the group at 17. His recent credits include “Zathura” and “Journey to the Center of the Earth.” Despite his relative youth, he’s perhaps the most experienced of the actors in contention for the role.
Who gets your vote to don the coveted Spider-Man tights? Do you like any of these finalists, or do you have a candidate of your own in mind?

None of these are Spidey. My pick is...

He is still working off the "high school musical" days...
good for him cuz I can't stand those movies
That way, Spiderman has a giant, transforming robot...
AND a flying car!
but for Mary Jane I'll say maggie gyllenhaal.
hey, she already screwed up Batman!
you forgot to mention she also "screwed" batman...lol
I don't know any of these other actors, but i also can't think of anyone other than Josh off the top of my head.
Though Spidey will always be Tobey Maguire to me.):
;P Of course because he died! lolol For the same reason, it won't be Dennis Hopper either! :P
Doesn't translate well obviously
The people on the list you chose are all somewhat youthful baby faced actors and hardly the mature type.
It's hard to tell who they will choose though because Toby McGuire got the role for looking like the classic Spiderman but some say this new version will be more like the ultimate Spiderman character.
In the 90's, they made a huge mistake having different actors playing Batman so Christian Bale was signed on with an agreement to play Batman at least for three movies as long as scheduling allows. So literally, if Bales doing a movie... the studio has agreed to wait because it's important to have him in the role... if they can't wait, then they suffer the consequences.
It's sorta like next year the family of the original Superman get ownership and DC's rushing to figure out how to get a new Superman out which, if it miraculously should happen, will likely suck big time because it will be rushed.

Superhero movies have to have their cast chosen wisely and if you read the stories where the actors listed above are mentioned, many of them were considered for the role of Captain America in that movie. So that means it's just a list of current stars for consideration and not really a serious list.
You have to look at the big picture and if they choose one of the actors listed by Sodahead here, you're going for the one shot wonder appeal and maybe one movie at best with these actors. Chase Crawford has the look to carry the role over for three movies and to play a grittier, darker Spiderman which is what they want.
I've seen Zac Efron and if you say Hell NO I would agree. He does not look like the Peter Parker type and I feel would be totally wrong for the role.
Gals need a heart throb and guys needs a true hero type... the traditional knight in shining armor only with a camera, glasses and webbing coming out of his hands lol.
I think Chase Crawford fits the mold... albeit, I defer to Pamela below if that third picture is him or not because it may be someone else, just looks sorta like him.
