Here's my list and why:
1. Wolverine- For me, not only is he one of the most entertaining super heroe to watch, but his powers are amazing. He has regenerative powers that can heal almost anything, and indestructable bones and claws that not even the Hulk or Superman could bend.
2. The Flash- I think the Flash gets so overlooked because people think he can just run fast. Well if you think that you could not be more wrong. Not only has the Flash proven he can run at near light-speed (faster than any hero on this list can see), but he has also run into another Dimension. Therefore he can just take his opponent and put them in a new dimension before they even knew they were fighting him. The only reason the Flash isn't number one is because I find Wolverine more entertaining.
3.Thor comes in as a close number three. Not only is he immortal, can control lightning, and fly using a hammer no one else can use, he also has stregnth comprable to Superman and the Hulk, and training superior to that ...

3.Thor comes in as a close number three. Not only is he immortal, can control lightning, and fly using a hammer no one else can use, he also has stregnth comprable to Superman and the Hulk, and training superior to that of Wonder Woman and Batman. He has been defending his homeland of Asgard for over 2000 years.
4. Iron Man- I love Iron Man to death. Not only is he a super genius and unimaginably rich, but hes egotistical, and proud of it! While Batman wallows in sorrow and has other people build his cool gadgets for him, Iron Man builds his own equipment and lives life to its fullest using his ugly amounts of money. Iron Man is too entertaining to be lower than number four on my list.
5. Batman- I just realized that my above super hero might have made me seem like I dont like Batman. Well you could not be farther from the truth. I love all of the super heroes numbers 1-7 so much, I just had to put them in order. This was really hard for me because as much as I like Batman, I just like the other 4 more. I dont feel I need to explain why Batman is so awesome so im moving on.
6. Hulk- I feel like the Hulk is getting trashed here and he doesnt deserve it. You guys file away as a brute, but hes so much more than that. You can empathize with him because you know that somewhere in there, a small scientist is fighting for control inside that head. Not only that, but the Hulk himself is awesome! He runs around breaking stuff, gets hurt, then gets even angrier, thus healing himself, and the cycle continues. He once fought Wolverine and it ended in a draw becasue the Hulk ripped Wolverine in half, the top half of Wolverine crawled to the bottom half of Wolverine, he healed himself back together and they kept fighting! Tell me that isnt the coolest thing ever!
7. Captain America- I like ol' Cap, but he barely made my favorite list becasue hes too much of a goody-two-shoes to be higher up on the list. As a single entity himself, Captain America isnt that great, having powers that reach that absolute max of human capabilities. Thats it, the maximum if HUMAN capabilities, he doesnt have super stregnth or speed like some of the other heroes here. No, where Cap's real prowess lies is in his ability to lead. Something in him inspires people to follow him, and (being the master strategist he is) he always leads them to victory.
Being as I have already spent way too much time on this list, Im just going to list the rest of them:
8. Spiderman
9. Superman
10. Wonder Woman
11. Green Lantern
The problem is, I've got a rotten publicist!
(and if you don't believe me, ask miss Polly Purebread, she'll tell ya)
Superman is retarded. He has the worst disguise!
I like the others on the list too. I don't want to single anyone out.
Missing alot of heroes, but these are the basic 5, I'll admit.
Is my all time fav
Captain America is my all time fave though.
Frank Miller nailed it; Bats isnt an average super hero tale, its a urban gothic freak show, closer to the horror genre than anything, with an obviously damaged main character who's just as psychotic as the colorful perps he brings to justice in a fruitless crusade to save his damned metropolis of Gotham. His is a doomed quest from the outset but thats what makes it work so well:Batman is like pulp tragedy, a rich space case working out his issues by night, playing dress-up in an apocalyptic waste-land & telling himself he's the resident guardian angel when,in fact, he most resembles the villains he opposes more than anything. That works on soooo many levels (especially considering fan boys who don't even get that Bats isn't a hero, just a self-righteous thug with great funding) I think thats very.... American.
With Batman a close second, of course.
I picked batman, because of the car, the hidden cave, the doublelife and the more cool nemesis.
