The Oscars aren't even worth the effort it takes to watch them anymore.

    Who exactly picks the nominees?

The fact that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows wasn't nominated shows just how much of a farce the Academy Awards are.

and who could forget this omission -

The Artist, Hugo, or Tree of Life...

That Extremely loud movie was not good, it did pretty bad with the critics too, so why is it up for grabs on best picture and not Drive? It was totally snobbed. It should've at least been nominated.... proves that the Academy is almost just as dumb as the Grammys.

They should go back to to a five-nominee award. Some of these were obviously not as acclaimed as others.

No other film comes close. It is the best film of the year by an outright mile, and everyone knows it.

Frankly I think it will be a tie between "The Help" and 'The Artist" for best picture.

"War Horse" will take best cinematography. I think "The Tree of Life" will take best score.

I predict Hugo will win. The Tree of Life is slightly a better film however it doesn't mesh with all audience members. Hugo is definitely worthy of best pic along with the Artist. The other movies are simply fillers not really worthy of best pic with Midnight in Paris being truly horrible.

I completely agree. The Artist, War Horse, Tree of Life, Hugo, maybe Moneyball. The others don't make any sense to me. >.>

War Horse was average. It wasn't bad but not spectacular compared to Hugo, the Artist, and the Tree of Life. Midnight in Paris was painful to watch and I completely didn't connect with anything in the Help. The Help was painfully slow.

I've seen almost all of the films above (all except for The Tree of Life), and The Artist outshone them all. It is by far the best film I have seen all year, perhaps even in the last decade. If any film deserves best picture, it's The Artist.

I wouldn't agree with that, to be honest. I enjoyed Hugo, but it's something I wouldn't want to watch more than once, whereas the Artist... well, it blew me away, and I could see myself watching it over and over. It's been a long time since a film has done that for me.
