Who exactly picks the nominees?
The fact that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows wasn't nominated shows just how much of a farce the Academy Awards are.

I do think the Harry Potter films do deserve an outstanding achievement award though, because they managed to accomplish wonderful things.
The fact that the movie was originally a book, as well as the differences that exist between the two, are never considered in the equation to begin with.
There has never been a film that was nominated, or won the award, that does not differ in some manner from the novel that it is based on.
and on a side note. Worst 3D effects of all time. Should never have been converted in to 3D.
So... that wasn't an omission.
The clip of Sam carrying Frodo to the lake of fire. That scene alone warranted a nomination. :)
