Who will direct the Venom Spider-Man spin-off?
After managing to turn a small budget movie with unknown young
actors into this year superpower sensation, we're expecting great things
from Josh Trank, director of Chronicle. So it doesn't come as a surprise that Trank is in talks to join the big league.
We're all excited for The Amazing Spider-Man, and
the good people at Sony are well aware of that: prepare for more
Spidey-related awesomeness; prepare for the return of...Venom! LA Times
reports that the Trank is in talks with Sony to direct the movie about
one of the coolest nemeses our beloved superhero with super
responsibilities goes up against. And we couldn't be happier.
Or maybe we could: please let Trank do it! He already proved to be the right man for the job: his super-teenadventures in Chronicle felt real and relatable. Relating to a gooey alien parasite might be a tiny bit harder, but we'd love to see him trying. After Spider-Man 3, a spin-off centered on Venom was in the works, with The Hunger Games' helmer Gary Ross set to direct. But after being stuck in development hell for what feels like forever, it seems that now Venom is
really happening. And let's face it: Venom circa 2007 was a bit
disappointing, between all the other villains and secondary plots he
didn't get the story he deserved. It's unlikely that Topher Grace will
reprise the role, but we're hopeful that they'll find someone perfect.

dreams in the comment section. On our part...whoever is going to play
him: we can't wait!
