Lol.....Very Classic funny Stuff! The original "Pink Panther" that started the whole thing was actually a large Diamond Gem owned by the "Shah of Lugash" and given to his princess daughter. That's where all the fun begins and the lovable irascible Inspector Jacques Clouseau of the vaunted Surete' is hot on the trail of would be thiefs!
"A Shot in the Dark" was watched by my whole family in Hollywood and we were in tears it's so funny! No doubt Henry Mancini's great score did a whole lot to launch all this wonderful Mayhem!
it was an will always be Peter Sellers...in the original movie Peter didn't do much...he convinced Blake Edwards to do another movie ..'A Shot In The Dark'...and it was THAT movie that Peter was able to remake Inspector Clouseau in the far more funnier form we have come to know and love through these many moons..
Since the "Pink Panther" was a jewel, I don't have an answer. (I do love the cartoon panther though). The best detective trying to find it would absolutely be Clousseau (Peter Sellers).
nostalgic :)
probably not the diamond from the movie
