Roger Moore has come out in his new book saying that he views Daniel Craig as the best Bond to date.

The 84 year old (have I made some of you feel old by putting that) said “I loved 'Casino Royale' and Daniel Craig. He is a wonderful actor, certainly the best actor to play Bond".

He also added that Craig has the 'best build' for the role too, and reminisces about his own physique while playing 007.

“Back then I could leap out of a chair without fear of my knees cracking; could chew a toffee without fear of losing a tooth; could admire my flowing locks and my bronzed, slim torso. With a twitch of the old eyebrow I set pulses racing across the world, they say. These days it's my pacemaker that keeps my pulse racing.”

So with the latest Bond film on the horizon, it's time to ask...who is the greatest James Bond of them all?

Connery says this as Bond after maneuvering a duplicitous dance partner so that she takes a bullet meant for him. He sits her down at a table, cheerfully saying "Do you mind if she sits this one out? She's just dead."

Connery is King of 007, no doubt. But I think Daniel Craig is the most "real". He looks like a real ruff and tumble Brit that would kick your @$$. I would be the most scared of him if I was someone that the British wanted to "deal" with. The guy looks like a real killer

Although Craig is excellent can there be any doubt who the "real" James Bond is? sean connery as james bond
Clive Owen might have been a good choice as well. He physically resembles the character that is described in Ian Fleming's novels.

It's always interesting to look at the other people they considered for the Bond role. My favourite is Cary Grant, although I don't think he would exactly be the James Bond type...

Barry Nelson was actually the first person to play "Jimmy" Bond in a 1954 American television production of Casino Royale.

Interesting.... He might have been a little old maybe. Fleming's first novel was published in 1953. (Casino Royale) The first film (Dr. No) was shot in 1962. Cary Grant was born in 1904. Yeah, a bit too old.

Connery for now, but I like the 'edgier' Bond that Craig delivers. Craig's next flick may change my vote.

I liked Daniel Craig in Casino Royale now so much in his second film but I think that had more to do with the inane plot line than him. However, I still think the original is still the best. sean connery 007
  • Ben 2012/08/29 13:00:46
    Timothy Dalton
    Ben
I personally have gone for Timothy Dalton.

Part of it is that I'm a child of the 80s and i think you always have a soft spot for whoever was james Bond when you were growing up.

But I also think that he was the best actor of the Bonds (he was a very accomplished stage actor alongside his role Flash Gordon!) and I found his portrayal of Bond to be the most realistic - the most like how a real life James Bond would be: Hard, cold and the opposite of suave-laden Moore or Connery.
