2012 has seen some bright new stars lighting up the pop cultural landscape, but who's been your favorite? Check out the video below for footage of some of this year's hottest breakout stars.
In the world of pop music, Carly Rae Jepsen burst onto the scene with the unstoppable single "Call Me Maybe," as well as an infectious Owl City collaboration called "Good Time." Then, there was British boy band heartthrobs One Direction, whose dating exploits and devoted fans dominated column inches all year.

With the London 2012 Olympics, we were introduced to world class athletes like super-hunk swimmer Ryan Lochte, who collected five medals. Teen gymnast McKayla Maroney brought home a gold and silver medal, while Gabby Douglas became the first African-American gymnast to become the individual all-around champion.
There were also some unlikely breakout stars. Korean rapper PSY became an international superstar after his Korean pop single "Gangnam Style" became the most watched video on YouTube.
Pint-sized child pageant contest Alana "Honey Boo Boo" Thompson was so bizarre on "Toddlers and Tiaras" that she now has her own show. And British author E.L. James brought kinky sex into the mainstream with her novel "Fifty Shades of Grey." So, without further ado, who do you think is 2012's biggest breakout star?

I'm not a fan of anyone on this list, I actually dislike most of them.
Also, Gabby Douglas too.
I mean.. a song is dedicated to her. :D A very popular song at that.
