Elvis Presley could sing Gospel, loud rock & roll, and ballads. Presley's voice would bring out so much emotion. He was very versatile with his singing and songs. Michael Jackson sang to basically the same beats over and over. His singing might make you want to dance but not much on emotion.

Im not saying this because im a big fan of mj but honestly his vocals were truly the best, he could be aggressive, soft and sweet, or just have a rythm in his voice that could get you to bob your head or dance

When it came to vocals, Elvis made Jackson look like a One Trick Pony. Not only could Elvis sing ANY SONG, he could make it his own and do a better job of the song he was covering than other artists. Jackson had an operation on to keep his voice high. Jackson couldn't hope to compete with the vocal power and melodic voice of Elvis.

I was at this concert and Elvis was just MAGNIFICENT! Every song was just PERFECT and he flirted with all the ladies, lots of kissing here and there! I'm so glad I was able to purchase the special edition DVD of this concert. I never dreamed I would ever get to see Elvis in-person! Unforgettable experience for me!

I wasn't born when he was alive unfortunately. Wish I could have seen him live. It would have been an unforgettable experience. I've heard other people say similar things about having been lucky enough to see Elvis live in concert. Wish I could have been one of them.

the fact that a man can sing most alto notes is amazing. elvis is a great singer i love his work but michael gotta get some credit for everything he did. the dancemoves the cathy songs and the high notes. both singers are dearly missed.

This is akin to comparing apples to oranges ... different era, style and "music". Personally, I liked Elvis very much (it was "my" time) ... despite all the accolades to Michael, I really didn't enjoy his "music" (just an "old fogey" by the time he hit his prime)

I voted for Elvis, but I also love Michael Jackson. And what about Freddy Mercury????? All these guys had really great voices. Elvis could sing rock, country, jazz, gospel. Michael made you want to get up and dance. And Freddy, whoa, WHAT A VOICE!!!!!

I agree about freddy and elvis...both unique voices,but i disagree with your opinion about Michael Jackson...Michael's voice was not only to get up and dance...he was having a soulful and unique voice.Listen to him when he was a child and also listen at his peaceful and relaxing songs like(Human nature,Earthsong,Heal the world) e.t.c.
Dont get me wrong but i dont like when people says that Michael's genre of music was only pop...he was able to sing except of pop, R&B; ,Rock, Soul, New Jack Swing, Funk and Disco.Also,Elvis was not able to sing only Rock n Roll, he was also able to sing:pop, Rockabilly, Country, Gospel,Blues and R&B.;
Im telling this because some people says that:The king of pop can only sing pop and the king of rock n roll can only sing rock n
roll...

I love listening to Michael singing: "Smile", "Ben" and "You Are Not Aone". For me, these songs show a different side of Michael: not a "Pop" singer, but A SINGER. When I hear "Smile", I get all weepy and see a very sensitive side of Michael. You realize what a versatile entertainer he is.
My dad once told me that: "A GOOD singer can sing any kinds of songs; not just the type of songs he/she is famous for". (he was telling me about Frank Sinatra and Elvis)
I still have the "Jackson 5" Christmas album. And Michael's voice was so strong, even at that young age. And then he grew up into this HANDSOME, SEXY MAN with a voice that blew us all away! A voice to me, that will be long remembered. (I listen to "Michael Jackson Number Ones" CD, in between Freddy & Elvis' CDs nightly with with my earphones)
You know, I never think of Michel as a "Pop Singer" or Elvis as "King of Rock". They are just GREAT SINGERS to me. And Freddy too! And I'm really glad that fans like you appreciate the gifts that these singers left us with.

WOW...I love their voices.Im so angry and sad,because we lost those major talents so early...and now we have this crap music(Justin Bieber,Lady Gaga and all the other...).I wish that i would have born in 60s to go to Elvis comeback tour and to go to all Michael Jackson's and Freddie Mercury's tours.
Also,remember that...music for some artists destroyed their lives...for example Michael started singing when he was 5,he had no childhood his father was so bad at him...listen this...(michael's father said one time when michael was very young that there is someone with a gun at the audience and if he stop to dance the man at the audience would shoot him.)..then fans ruined his life...he wasn't able to move outside of his house...he wasn't able to sleep cause media's rumors ruined his life too and many more...but he achieved to be called the king and to change the music with his will,and the other artists too(Elvis and Michael)were LEGENDS!,but they dont lived so hard.Michael Jackson is very undrated by some people. ):
