Pinball Wizard- "Pinball Wizard" is an up-tempo, fast rocking song that transitions from the early despair of the pinball prodigy Tommy to the problems of fame that he later encounters. In the movie version of "Tommy," Elton John gives a great performance as the aging pinball prodigy who has to abdicate his throne to the oblivious youngster. "Pinball Wizard" shows The Who's ability to take something as ridiculous as a prolific, disabled pinball ace into something to marvel at and enjoy.

Saw it performed live by the Who in 1973 in Ingelwood, CA on November 23. I still have my orginal program and many of the other stuff I bought including an autographed album.

    This performance is from Woodstock.

Elton John made the song Pingball Wizard a huge hit in his stage performance as well as in the movie Tommy.

Probably so. I wasn't going to go at first. it was the day after a big all night party. I jumped on my motorcycle, went home for some money and caught the last caravan car to the stadium. It was SO loud and rowdy the Anaheim city counsel didn't allow another rock concert there for FIVE YEARS!

The Who is NOT fruity. If you think they are, you need an adjustment. The Who didn't wear make up and nail polish.

I saw the Beatles on Ed Sullivan. Does THAT tell you anything? And fruity DOES mean gay. Always has.

10-4, Eleanor. What they do is between them and God. They must keep it out of the public eye and ear.

Of course, the athies and government and U.N. and the left coddle them.

heck yea!! my wife owned "Tommy" on vinyl before we married and now i have it on my iPod ... haven't listened to it in years, though ... i saw the Who live in 1970, but they were touring to support their new "Live at Leeds" album, and i don't recall that they played anything from "Tommy" ... thinking back now, though, i figure that they must have played something from "Tommy" ... a bunch of us went as a high school graduation celebration ... and we found a joint on our blanket (we all sat on the baseball diamond infield at Anaheim's - then called - Angel Stadium) ... i remember it being practically as big as my arm ... needless to say, my memories are a bit fuzzy now, all these years later ...
