Who on SH has seen Van Halen?

I went and seen them in San Antonio. All in all I gave them a 5 out of 10.

My reasons are:

David Lee Roth's vocals sucked, he sang maybe 1/3rd of the lyrics.
The sound mix had to much bass and over drove the speakers distorting the music and vocals.

What I did like was the concert length and the song selection, they played about 20 of my favorites, so that was awesome. To see Eddie play the shit out of the guitar and Alex play the drums was well worth the trip, time and money.......but Diamond Dave phoned it in....

IMHO.....

If you seen them, give me a review of your experience at any of the VH concerts on this tour.

Saw them back in the 80's but not since, they were good back then lol not sure about now. not a band I want to go revisit in a arena.

I've seen Van Halen and "Van Hagar" several times for both. Not in many years though. Sorry to hear DLR vocals sucked. I would really like to see the reunited band.

yes, DLR was lead and he sucked.

that was a failed attempt to get David Lee Roth back as lead singer. They crashed and burned after Me Wise Magic was released.

I heard a little of VH III and thought their studio's choices for singles weird. I would have chosen "From Afar" (the Ozzy Osbourne likeness) and Ballot or the Bullet (perfect for the mixed genre crossroads of non commercial radio in Australia i.e Triple J )

I saw them with David Lee Roth back in 1984 and he sucked then too. I also saw them with Sammy Hagar and he rocks.

I agree with everything you said. I saw them in April with my brother, it was my fourth time seeing them and third time with Roth. Roth seemed so out of it, almost uninterested. The only redeeming part was how heavy it was, it was SO loud and Eddie still slayed his guitar.

I saw them shortly after their first album came out. They rocked ! They are much older now and I doubt that Roth could even pull off some of the things he did back then.

No splits for sure or jumps...

He tried a few leg kicks, but not like they used to be....which is to be expected. You can tell they have lots of miles on them.

I saw them in 1977 and I met Alex Van Halen in a hotel bar back in the 80's. I forget where but I think it was on a trip out to the west coast.

They were great back then but I hate the new album. Sorry you did not get to see them back in the early days.
