I have been a George Strait fan ever since he started on 1981. And today his sound is still traditional country music.

Willie fought the law, and the law won. At least made good with the IRS with a creative solution of singing his way outta' jail.

While I will always have a soft spot for Willie, Johnny and Hank, Vince Gill is an insane player and excellent vocalist. If you have never seen him in concert you would do yourself justice checking him out. The simple studio crap that lasts 3 and 50 on the radio becomes a 10 + minute ho-down with all the fixin's. As far as a performing artist is concerned damn.

Cash wins for his legendary status. Each have great songs and/or played important roles, but Johnny wins hands down.

I haven't tired yet of George's smooth voice and variety of songs. Brad is my favorite (relative) newcomer, with a great mix of songs, from spiritual ("When I Get Where I'm Going) and grateful ("Didn't Have to Be") to humorous ("Alcohol," "Celebrity") to everything in between. Marty Robbins' "El Paso" is one of the best country songs ever. Johnny Cash is, of course, completely deserving of the title of "legend."

I like both types of music, country and western...my vote is for whomever penned that purdy song about the camptown ladies...I whistles that dandy toon whilst I rob railroad men and frequent soiled-doves...which is frequently.
