I grew up listening to the Blues so I have a deep appreciation for it. My Mom's absolute favorite was B.B. King. I have to say for me B.B. is tops! Who do you think is the King of Blues?

Ella Fitzgerald was up there for me but she was a vocalist and not a musician. ; ) Has to be Muddy Waters.

We have such similar taste in music! That's my favorite video of that song! No matter how old B.B. gets, sitting or standing, he's gonna get it done! :-)

Back in the 60's, he use to come to Toledo to preform.

His name sounds vaguely familiar but I think it's because there is a R&B singer Kenny Latimore (If I'm not mistaken) that may be why.

You were probably too young to remember Latimore, when he use to come to Toledo to perform, it was back in the early 70's.

Yes, I would have been too young to remember him then, just wondered if it wasn't played around me, growing up though. But just not sure. :-)

Nah, I doubt when he was coming to Toledo that you were interested, usually when I saw him, he performed over on Ashland Avenue, the building has since been torn down.

It's too hard to pick, even from that list of greats. The last one I saw live was Buddy Guy. Fantastic show to say the least. Eric Clapton just continues to get better and better. I actually broke down when I heard Stevie Ray had died in a helicopter crash. All the rest have their own place in blues history, and then there's the ones that nobody knows about. We have dozens of them here in the Live Music Capital of the World.

I agree that it's very hard to pick and that there are many more "nameless" talents out there as well. Personally, it's not like other forms of music where one can just do it, it takes a certain knack to be able to sing the Blues! I wasn't privy to SRV, until later, sadly.
