Be sure to vote for your Oscar picks with our Academy Award Quick Vote!

This year's Academy Award nominees were announced Tuesday morning, meaning the weeks leading up to February 26 will be filled with rumors and speculation. Michel Hazanavicius' "The Artist" and Martin Scorsese's "Hugo" lead the list with 10 and 11 nominations respectively, but there were plenty of movies with multiple nominations. "Moneyball" and "The Descendants" did well, allowing Brad Pitt and George Clooney to vie for Best Actor.

We put together a Quick Vote poll for the major categories so you can find your way around the nominations and get involved in the discussion right away. If you'd like to see a full list of categories and nominations -- Supporting Actors, Cinematography, Costume Design -- the official Oscars website has it here.

Actually, the other Lisbeth. Noomi Rapace is the better actress. She was more Swedish and by that more like Stieg Larrsen described her in the novels.

    noomi rapace

    lisbeth and mikael

-.- just because she's swedish don't mean that she's a better actress... I've read all the books in the original swedish and I have to say that Rooney Mara IS Lisbeth, Noomi Repace's Lisbeth is just too normal and not impressive - Rooney really stepped out of the box :)

I disagree. I had exactly the opposite expression. I think Noomi was the better actress which is not only because she´s Swedish. She´s more like I imagined Lisbeth after reading the books but that´s okay, I guess. Everyone has another taste and another image of how Lisbeth should be/look like. :)

Rooney Mara ("The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo")
She was incredible, not using the easy acting tricks. I can't really take "her" out of her role, that's a true measure!

They don´t want to accept that Meryl it´s the best, if they give the Oscar to her..is a way of accept.....Rooney great actress but "Nomination is her award"..ooh..Michelle, Viola and Glenn..so great...all had been nominated...and all of them deserve it...maybe Glenn sixth nomination (last in 1988!!), never wins Oscar...great movie...maybeee,

Rooney Mara- sister of actress Kate Mara - heir to the New York Giants and Pittsburgh Steelers ownership.
Viola Davis - she is the dispatcher in the "Jesse Stone"(Tom Selleck) movie series.
Glenn Close - best known for her rabbit killing psycho in "Fatal Attraction" and Cruella in 101 Dalmations.
Michelle Williams - twice nominated as best actress- Best known as Heath Ledger's ex girlfriend and mother to thier child.
and well, you know who Meryl is. All are great actresses - only one will win.

Michelle Williams ("My Week with Marilyn")
I saw My Week with Marilyn, and liked it...Thought Michelle Williams did a tremendous job with her interpretation of Marilyn Monroe, but she won't get the Oscar, Meryl Streep will for The Iron Lady...I won't see it because it it basically a hatchet job of a very interesting and complicated woman who fought the male establishment in Britain with all her might. I am really not interested in most of the movies out there...I will not be watching the Oscars this year...Hate it...all the flourish, all the B.S., and all the back biting of these self indulging overpaid stars who tell other people how to live and they crawl back into their mansions and hide...I have absolutely no respect for about 98% of them...except a few who shall remain nameless...they are the few conservatives in this liberal town of Hollywood...

    Viola Davis ("The Help")
anybody but Streep! Viola Davis would be refreshing for a change.
  • Sully 2012/01/25 16:35:23
Rooney Mara ("The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo")
"Lisbeth" was a far more difficult role to play than any of the others by far. Not to take anything away from the other performances, but this is an easy one. Though, due to Streep's overall popularity, she'll probably win.

My week with Marilyn is a great movie . I believe Marilyn Monroe would be estaic on seeing that she is still have a influence on people years after she died. I myself wouldv'e love to just sit & talk to Marilyn ,get to know the girl Hollywood left behind. The true Marilyn.

I'm not usually a big fan of Streep, but from the trailer, she really captures the spirit and strong will of Thatcher. After that, I would go with Michelle Williams as MM.

I thought she was incredible in this film. My second choice is Viola Davis. At this point, I think Meryl Streep would like to see someone else win this award.

very, very talented young actress; she'll be around for a long time if she chooses to remain in the biz; all talented actresses here but her perf. was exceptional; in fairness did not see all of the performances nominated here/

ugly bitch?????? You must think Meryl Streep is a Hottie...
  • Franklin sevy 2012/01/25 16:40:13
Streep is the ugly bitch - she exudes an arrogance and snottiness (ugly on the inside) on talk shows that causes one to exercise the remote control. Can't stand her and won't go see any movies and if I were Margaret Thatcher(Julia Child for that matter), I'd be insulted to be cartoonized by this over-rated piece of work. But I'll hold back on how I really feel.....

    Glenn Close ("Albert Nobbs")
I haven't seen 'My Week with Marilyn', but I seriously doubt it would change my mind. As for Close's performance, one can really tell she put all her heart into it. Women don't often enough get a chance to shine, but that's exactly what she does here.

Glenn Close doesn't do bad work. I can't think of a single performance of hers that was less than stellar.

Am I the ONLY one who has seen all five performances?
Those who haven't seen at least three shouldn't vote!

I'm voting on the strength of the trailers; not all of us can afford to shovel out big bucks to see a movie in this economy.
  • Voicedude Aqua Su... 2012/01/25 19:21:35 (edited)
As a voting SAG member, I did NOT have to shell out big bucks.
Not for the nominated movies, anyway....

And I do stand on that principle when I vote, btw!
    Even I can't see everything!
